An error with the bookmarking system might have caused it to default to "-1". I'm just throwing stones but that's my guess...

My guess would be that the 2 databases were out of sync. Depending on the internal structure and the "business logic" of OP, there are a few ways I can think of that may be possible to produce this glitch.
