Add me for a "Fast" Trade
Some people quote "Add me for a Fast Trade", but then they accept your friend request a couple minutes or hours later. They should say this if they acttually do it.

A trade is up 24 hours a day. People are not up 24 hrs per day. What they mean is "Add me for a fast trade if I am online, instead of offering on here and waiting for me to get back to you and then waiting for you to add me."

If they only say it if they actually do it then absolutely no one could have that on their trades since we all sleep.

I know that, but some people are online and are not following "Add me for a fast trade".

It's just one of those sentences everybody copies without thinking too much about it. I think it is a selling technique supposed to persuade that it is more likely to get what you're after faster by adding that trade instead of another. My experience is, that is not the case. And I also highly doubt it gives you any real advantage over other trades without it.

The best of them are those that use it to also low-ball you. They advertise something at a fixed price, say "add me for a fast trade" and then when you're already in the trade window, you get this: "add a ref/rec". And the worst part is, I suppose it even works eventually.

A simple "add me" should be enough. Maybe not even that is be necessary, but I somehow feel it is with so many people SHOUTING DON'T ADD ME, even for fixed price trades - what I will never understand.

How do you know they are online? They could be on snooze or away but it will still show as they are "online".
By going on their steam page or if they are In-Game

yup its just impractical to take your trades down every time you are afk.
I have no idea why people write this overused cliche phrase. Adding for trade is obvious thing. I always add first unless they write in description «don't add me, write offer first». Please don't remind me to add you.

The only times I ever write "Add me for trade [if you agree with my price]" is on other than tf2op sites that I rarely check and people don't adding me and expecting me to add them.

That's not true. Most traders prefer not to be disturbed with annoying adds that just waste their time with silly offers. When somebody adds you, you expect a successful trade. Stating that in your notes ensures them that you will accept their offer as soon as possible (minus when you're afk or unavailable), no need for comments or waiting for confirmations.

It's silly when you're selling keys and somebody replies with "I wanna buy 10, add me". No YOU add me.
