Well, for sure it does solve one problem: people buying tons of games during a sale in a low price region and reselling to people in a high price region. Timing is everything, if someone needs to wait 30 days to get his desired games he prolly will accept to pay a few dollars more just to get it in time, after all the game is on sale so they already do save.

This makes the reselling more risky in sense of building a dead stock you cant get rid off later than it is already, valve is just so smart to sell this feature as anti scamming measure.

However it is indeed also more safety to protect users from fraud because 30 days is realistic to detect chargebacks but this solution still has a huge catch: games can still be gifted during this timeframe so only time will tell if this opens a new way of fraud by simply bypassing the trading and forcing the one sided trade solution.

A lot of people should be sensitive about these one sided trade scams, but still there are lots of people in the paypal business. At least on outpost. But how is that in comparision to the steam userbase? And even if enough people fall for that one sided scam, currently trading for games is quite safe for the user because in case of fraud he gets his items back and valve looses, with this new system the user does not and valve looses nothing but only the user does. If people realise that this type of trading is more dangerous now they might simply stop that type of trading.

Regarding all the other threads with people asking/complaining about response times i would estimate an average of 1 month.

Trading items for items is a bad idea, especially if the item you have is, according to certain websites, 1 ref less than the item you want. But in general trading items for items is pretty dead, unless you want to rip off yourself by doing a trade where you loose much, the sharks will hit you up fast in that case. You are much better off selling items for currency and buy the items you want for currency.

But according to your backpack your buying power is really low, most stuff you own is uncraftable or even untradeable, most of the other items have very low value and are pretty unwanted, very hard to get rid off. Maybe you can sell some at some automated trading sites, but dont expect to get much.

Nope. Absolutely pointless, the whole bp.tf system is more or less a make-your-own-price machine. If you want real sale stats you need data that cant be spoofed, so far i know only 2.5 sources for that: community market, warehouse sales and to some sort the stock of scrap.tf.

Yep, 99.9999% of them are fishermen or scammer alts, and if you claim something else id like to see some detailed stats about your adds and trade history.

And why should a bot care about his tiny friendlist of not even 30 people without even knowing if anyone of these does care about tf2 or trading if it can instead scrub thousands of profiles that do care about tf2 and trading from a central location?

Yes, there are A LOT of trolls and stupid people out there, depending on what items you trade you attract a lot of them, e.g. scrap.tf is the home of the kids and ponies, pretty much every of their bots have the scammer tags, and their bots are working pretty well, never got a wrong trade, so they defo dont scam you. Of the warehouse bots only a few are tagged ;-).
