We're aiming to launch it this week. I don't have exact details - we're still waiting on the Paypal account to be verified, and I'm just adding some polish to the update. There's quite a lot of visual and backend changes; some you'll notice and some you won't.

I'm seeing both of those trades as closed on both your user page and the trade itself.

Well I've been reading all new posts over the past week and I figured I'll answer the main questions:

- Our country doesn't allow everybody to get credit cards - what can I do?

Well, firstly if you have the ability to obtain a pre-paid card, then you can use that with the Paypal option. We understand that this may cost you more, but the figures like 1.5x the cost seem a little exaggerated.

Alternatively, someone suggested a service called Boku to me the other day - it allows people to pay with their mobile credit/bill from most countries in the world. The downside to this is that it also has a rather large extra charge on top of the payment, in the reigon of 10%-50%. However, if enough people request this, then it's something that we can look into adding. I know that Facebook use it for credits so it can't be that bad.

- Why can't we pay with items?

This was answered before, but essentially it's sketchy with US taxation laws on virtual goods. According to Valve, items have no monetary value, and items themselves aren't "owned" by users, they're essentially leased indefinitely to them. It's just shady.

Someone asked why we can't have a partnership with tf2shop.net allowing people to buy premium through there - it's the same problem. We'd be getting paid from them, but you're still dealing with virtual goods. I'm also not sure about how they do their taxes and the legal aspect of their site.

Yes, we support prepaid cards. You can also use these with the Paypal method too I believe.

You will be given 12 months of Premium credit - we feel that this more than compensates you for donating before this service will be launching.

Will there be any additional perks to premium or just the same as donator?

The perks are mostly the same, with 30 minute autobumping and the other perks of donatorship. The other advantage of this is that all premium users will have one standardised rank instead of loads of different colours floating about.

Honestly, donations weren't sustainable and accepting items was causing us a lot of problems. I won't go into detail or reasons why.

Nobody is forcing you to pay. The service will remain completely free and your use of Outpost will never cost you anything. If you would like the premium features, then you'll have to pay. It's what provides us with stable income to allow us to keep everything else free.

It's actually saddening to see people complaining about having donated a single key and then asking for a refund when we announce Premium. Servers cost money. Everything costs money. We're providing you a free service, but to keep it free we need some paid customers. That's how business works.

You will be credited. Look at the bottom of the announcement. You'll be given roughly 3x as much Premium credit as your donation was valued.

That's completely understandable - if you donated in the past, you will be given Premium credit worth around 3x as much as your donation. If you donated more than $10 you'll get at least 12 months of Premium.

Why transition to this model?
The fact is that once a critical mass is reached, donation perks are just not sustainable. TF2 Outpost reached that size long ago, and this is the best way we have found to continue the website without destroying it. In addition, item trades are very problematic and a legal grey area in terms of income, we can't continue to be taking them in such volumes.

I have already donated, what do I get?
Users that have donated in the past will be given Premium credit worth around 3x what they donated. If you donated less than $10, you'll receive 6 months Premium credit. If you donated $10-$20, you'll receive 12 months and if you donated above $20 then you'll receive 24 months of Premium. If you donated at all, you will receive a minimum of 6 months free credit.

What perks do I get?
30 minute autobump and 25 extra trade slots and a premium rank in addition to some extra features we're working on on top of the no-ads you've always had.

What is the price?
$4.99, but it's not yet fully decided.

I want to use paypal, can I use paypal?
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
