I suggest that next time you open a trade window - put in the Item and just wait... and wait and wait until it times ot. Remake that about ten times to annoy him OUT OF HELL!
At least you then deserves to be shouted at! :)

AHA - got it! The items are mixed up in history!

Well - backpack.tf is not a law. It only displays statistics based on historical trades. It is a great guide and I always uses it myself in this way. ...
- I buys item at a lower price specified at backpack.tf
- I sells them at a higher price specified at backpack.tf

Of course we are talking about resonable pricediffers ... like trying to buy it for a scrap/reclaimed less then bp.tf and sell it for a scrap/reclaimed more then bp.tf says.

I think that backpack.tf monitors five TF2 trading sites and I also think that It is important that the market is kept free.
Conclusion: Use backpack.tf as a guideline and make your own decissions about the pricing!

I follow all those rules ... but HOW do I check the ownerhistory of an item.

HOW do I actually check the origin of an item.
- Who actually crafted it?
- Is it a duped item?
- Can it be sold to me from someone who scammed someone else?

Would be real nice if someone could make a guide in How to check an item.


I will remember that during one of the TF2outpost-TwitchTV broadcasts - one of you in the staff (a guy) talked about that he was dressed in a hat that he was sure was duped at least 6 times. He had made some investigations and found the other five copies in other players inventories - So there must be a way of doing this investigation.
I have also heard you at the staff discuss "dirty" items (NOT in the meaning Uncraft) where you said that IF an item was scammed it usually are traded very fast between a number of user-accounts which all have non-public inventories. (Think it was Helen who talked about this).
This history of ownership is recorded somewhere and even if you can not se who the owner was - you can get very suspicious about the item...

Maybe you at TF2-Outpost should get together and make such a guide and Pin it at the forum so everyone can learn and increase awareness!

Well packaged case - from my point of view looking through all the links this is a clear case of forgery.
It will be very interesting to follow this case because this is not only a TF2outpost case (there are other trading sites also) - this is a Valve/Steam issue.
I hope that TF2outpost have contacts enough to influense Valve and also Steam to join in on a real punishment.
IF we in the community could be seated in the jury - I guess we would punish him with lifesentence-banning. BUT we are not the jury - just victims in this process.

Just ignore him and put him on your blacklist so he can not join you.
And IF he still is wiiining about it - save his comments as screenshots. And IF a friend of him start hunting you instead THAT is bannable bcs nobody shall interfere in other ppls business.
And a ban is not so hard to take sometimes - it is only a game!

Well - Allways make screenshots of all chats in theese situation and keep them. BUT I will also guess that TF2Outpost will not even interfere in prize discussion.
And my experience is that TF2-moderators are fair.
BUt dont fulfill the trade with someone suddenly changing the trade in the middle - just cut him off and DONT be rude! Rudiness is probably the most common reason for ppl to get banned - NOT trading!

And why are you afraid of a ban IF you think you are right. Take the ban - most bans ar timelimited and sometimes it is worth to take the penalty just to feel that you did not back of!
