Good potential ruined by bad developers.

If doesn't take too long for you to realise some of the many things wrong with Ballistic Overkill. I'll name a few...

Firstly, there are ZERO instructions on what to do. Nothing is explained to you and you have to figure everything out. There's no training or practise area, no helpful character, nothing.

There are numerous characters in the game and as far as I know they have different skins or at least accessories. The thing is, these characters absolutely suck. I found myself immediately turning the voice volume down to zero because their voices were so annoying and what they said wasn't contextually appropriate and didn't make any sense. The characters are really unlikeable and forgettable.

They are also extremely unbalanced. There's one map where everyone plays sniper and then every other map is dominated by this "Shadow" class that essentially lets you run around being invisible and almost instantly killing everyone with the overpowered weapons. It makes it impossible to use any of the other classes because everyone else is using the same one that is way more powerful than you.

The map design is also pretty generic and has virtually zero strategy elements. They are a masterclass in visuals, that I'll admit. They look great and the developers clearly put effort into making the few maps that are available look vibrant and consistently stylised. But the problem is they're also way too big for the tiny amount of players each game supports.

Speaking of tiny amounts of players, the game, at this point, is virtually abandoned and you'd be lucky to find a room that is full or isn't filled with veterans who have been playing for years. There's no balance between teams so you'll get screwed and will have no choice to change to the winning team or get shuffled the next game. The only time anyone used chat was to throw insults or act toxic.

This game also seems to be available in regions (like mine) where there's no point in it being available because the servers are trash and your ping is guaranteed to be over 200. It makes gameplay impossible. Don't make a game available where it will be unplayable.

What's also funny is that there are virtually no graphics options other than "High, Medium, Low" and basic Anti Aliasing. It runs pretty poorly on my somewhat capable machine compared to other games that look a lot better.

There are much better games out there and I bet if the developers weren't so ignorant and what they chose to work on or if they put any effort into listening to the community, this game wouldn't be so awful.

Would I recommend it? Hell no.

UPDATE: Now the game refuses to open and Steam won't refund it because I'm a few minutes over the maximum playtime. Ugh...
