Looking for an incredibly fun, parkour-filled, slightly terrifying zombie experience? Then look no further than Dying Light....1

The first Dying Light is probably one of my favorite zombie themed video games. The introduction of the incredibly smooth parkour system for traversing zombie-filled environments was a blast. The night time chase scenes were terrifying, and the combat was fairly tight. The DLC The Following brought with it the buggy which allowed another entertaining way to cross the zombie filled landscape (Which also had some pretty frightening chase scenes with fast zombies).

So naturally I was pretty excited for the sequel, even after the continuous delays. I even pre-ordered it! (I know I know, shame on me). Sadly I find this game to be a major disappointment. Between the decisions to add in an unnecessary stamina system, the removal of guns, the nighttime immunity timer (counteracted by copious amounts of UV Shrooms and UV lighted areas), quest breaking bugs, and samey environments. There just isn't much to enjoy. Several areas are blatantly copy-pasted, down to the same bags/items being in the exact same locations. The characters are all hard to care about, they're either incredibly generic or just unlikable. The game has a very overall feeling of being rushed, even though it's actually been delayed several times over.

I will say that the game can look very good at times, particularly the very beginning of the story. But at the same time, the overabundance of vegetation and foliage can make it hard to tell what's going on when confronted with zombies.

I also don't understand the point of the 'Free-DLC' they've been releasing after launch. It only contains low level items that are useless if you're already played the game for any amount of time, they should at least be permanent cosmetics.

TLDR: If you haven't played the first Dying Light, and are curious about this one. I recommend you save money by buying the original. It's half the price, and overall a better game. I also believe it goes on sale fairly often, so it's worth adding to your Wishlist at the very least.
