Wow this was a good game, I was looking for more survival horror games and after tons of walking simulators I got this gem of a horror experience. Well, I mean gem like compared to everything that came after Evil Within 1. It is no Silent Hill, but it earned its place among the new survival horror classics. Now, for a survival horror experience it lacked one thing very important to me: A MAP. No map in a new age retirement center?. I hope it gets implemented even if it is not as detailed as a Resident Evil one (that paints blue or red depending if there are items left to collect in the room) a nice one that can tell us where we are and which doors are locked by which key.

PROS:
Interesting characters.
Fun and challenging combat
New kind of weapons for a survival horror (Don't expect a handgun or a knife)
Good music (Although there's a track with a garage sounding drum that in my opinion could be improved)
As original as any "we go to a cult and bad stuff happen" can go. It actually subverted a bit my expectation.
The voice work is fine too.
The length is ok too, specially since you have to replay it to get a different ending.

CONS:
I got a weird bug that painted the main character's face brown or sometimes white. (a reload will fix it until it happens again probably not in the same sitting)
Some stuttering, maybe some optimization could be implemented on a next patch.
The ending sequence felt a bit too rushed, maybe some pacing could make it more impactful.
NO MAP! (I hope this urgently gets implemented in a further update)
No BACKPACK (I know you can carry items and increase it in the ability tree but 2 backpacks with extra space distributed in the mid and last chapter could be very rewarding for the player)

I'll give it another play and probably update this review but as of now I totally recommend this game, I give it a 8/10.
