Early Access Review
I love the direction the game wants to head in but there are two glaring issues at the core which i believe hinder the game

1 CONTENT and VARIETY

The least important of the two but is quite glaring once you pass your first few contracts/quests. There just is not much game

This mostly gets in the way of leveling up your character. All the skills seem quite refined. but the issue is nobody is going to ever use them because its waaaaay to grindy to get a large selection of skills due to there just not being enough world to explore and level your character in, leading to very repetitive fights

I dont mind how saves work in this game unlike alot of people but the saves really show how little variety there is in the world once you reload said save, making you play EXACTLY the same way as before for 10 odd minutes just to then "adapt" to what caused your demise

Look its a Beta i cant expect there to be loads of content and that is quite understandable

2 GAMEPLAY and Mechanics

WALKING MAN, I HATE WALKING
This is probably why people hate the saves, because it means you have to do a lot of walking
So to begin why does walking suck. well its actually ok for your first contract or 2, but you notice a cycle after that, 80% slow walking 15% bandit ambush (which is very easy to deal with past your first contract) 5% animal ambush. Which is arguably the most varied encounter. but can be the most soul draining too, Sometimes you can demolish these. but when you cant. man it sucks. You either spend a long time trying to shake of your pursuer (almost requiring you to cheese the AI) rather then mechanical avoidance: such as sitting in the corner of the map to load multiple loading zones in a short span of time. or dying taking you back to the start of your horrible walking simulator

Also learning about the arrowkey/numpad movement did not help ease the pain 20 hours in.
to further insult it does not work as independent movement
requiring you to have to have to uncomfortably constantly switch your right hand between mouse and keyboard any time you want to do an action or change loading zone.

something as core as movement needs to be solid otherwise it taints the rest of the mechanics when it becomes intrusive. Im sure there is an ideal way to play.

but if i still havent mastered basic movements in 25 hours i feel like its not just a me issue

The game ends up leaving you Frustrated, but for the wrong reasons, i firstly felt frustrated dying (because i was bad), which is a good thing, that's what the game is trying to do.

But its the mechanics im fighting against now which no amount of preparation can save you from

Overall the idea is sublime, the concept, visually captivating

In execution, its just kinda clunky

Its why i worry there is no mention of working on overhauling gameplay mechanics, because it means they are gonna have to add alot of content to fill that void between dungeons

But who knows, they can pull a hello games and make an honest to the host, master piece, which is what everyone is hoping for, but that just requires patience and time
