Early Access Review
There isn't anything I can say about this game without parroting every other person's negative review of this game. It's poorly optimized, empty, and endlessly boring. The game was fully funded years ago and has seen little progress at all since then. Every DevLog talking about future content all ramble on about what new flora they've been working on, or the triceratops AI that still has yet to be fully realized. The developers have made a game that's scientifically accurate first, and fun second, and I've long since given up hope that the game will ever be finished. Don't bother buying it. They got well over what they needed for it and still came up short.

At least the artbook is good.

It is unfortunate that the game has come to this. Even months after writing this review, I still can’t say there’s been major progress in the game’s development. Development has slowed to a snail’s pace, further worsened by the recent epidemic, the overwhelming majority of promises made have yet to be fulfilled, and Saurian still plays and runs poorly. I genuinely want to say that I enjoy this game, I do. I fell in love with its concept from the moment I first saw the now long outdated original models on YouTube, and have supported the game for years. Unfortunately however, I do not enjoy this game. It isn’t good.

I must also reiterate the point I made in the original post, that the game has placed realism over the realization of enjoyable game mechanics. Though the devotion of Saurian’s team to the detailed and frankly impressive accuracy of Hell Creek’s prehistoric ecosystem is extremely admirable, all these efforts are completely wasted on a game that isn’t enjoyable to play at all. A game’s goal should invariably focus on being an enjoyable experience, using its solid gameplay to sell its setting. Saurian provides a fascinating setting, but clunky and unpleasant gameplay, which ultimately and unfortunately drives the player away from the setting.

I had hoped, as both an avid fan of both survival games and paleontology alike, that Saurian could have become a major influence on the gaming community, but as I have previously established, I no longer hold that hope. I paid one hundred dollars to help fund this game. I saw its Kickstarter goals, and even now, years after they were promised, I have yet to see any of these goals met in turn by the money that the community generously donated to fund this project. Furthermore, I will not apologize for my negative review. I will admit that my original review is clearly peppered with resigned sarcasm, however given that I’ve devoted a portion of my own money and time to following this game, I believe that entitled to express my displeasure at the game’s still mediocre progress after I’ve waited six years for such minuscule growth.

Unfortunately I will not be changing my review. I have followed the development of this game since I was in middle school. I am now entering my second year of college. I can safely conclude that I’ve given more than enough time to expect a fully developed game from Urvogel, but I still find myself discontent with the amount of content currently released. I do appreciate the development team’s dedication to scientific accuracy, and in fact it was the very thing that hooked me on the idea of this game in the first place. The majority of people have been presented this concept of dinosaurs as menacing movie monsters, with shrink-wrapped skeletal frames and simple unrelenting strategy. I firmly believed in the capacity for this game to change the public outlook on how we interpret dinosaurs, but now conclude that my faith was misplaced.

OMG what in the fricking early access game you don't understand you heathen!
There f*ck tons of a hole giving negative comments like you without having a long thought. Give some time for the developer teams to still build the game. Your had to appreciate this is such a marvelous game focus on scientifically accurate dinosaurs without boring us to dead with the gameplay. There's several other dinosaur game like this minus the scientifically accuracy which some got ABANDONED. I recommend you to change your comment to positive thanks. This is the only game that merge Science community with video game in its kind. The paleontology community would appreciate if Video game players give a great positive reviews. Apologize for the attitude. Thank you.
