So this is what happens when good devs make a single player survival game. Amazing. I've put in 90 hours in one week, and my only regret is my bodies weakness for sleep and food.

My game started to lag real bad around 10 hours in. I learned about deleting CellsCache and CompiledOctreesCache and most of my lag problems were solved. I repeat the process every 5 hours or so, depending on how much exploring I do (cumulative exploration makes this worse for some reason). This created an unintentional side effect of resource nodes respawning and my base is now glorious and full of beautiful windows: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=813958077

For anyone who loves survival, and especially anyone who prefers solo survival, this game is for you. The future is bright, Development is still in full bloom, and it already feels like a complete game.

Buy it!

PS: Forgot to mention the sound and music guys score top marks. Incredibly immersive in both respects.

PSS: They fired the sound guy because of ideological differences. I do not agree with this action and the following game suffered from an inferior sound guy, all because of politics, which have nothing to do with sound. Politics are destroying this world. Annexation threats against Canada. Canada. This world...

Just looking back on some stuff, and I've noticed a lot of the old comments are gone. Interesting.

What got me looking was this: Dec 2023, and Steam Chart stats:

4,617 playing 17 min ago
4,939 24-hour peak
50,876 all-time peak
Last 30 Days 3,534.6 +249.4 +7.59% 8,368

Compared to the newer Below Zero:

1,585 playing 15 min ago
1,722 24-hour peak
42,057 all-time peak
Last 30 Days 1,162.8 +80.7 +7.46% 2,634

This game is closing in on being ten years old and it is still holding it's own with impressive numbers, and clearly showing how much better of a game this is than its sequel.

Just some interesting facts to consider.

I'm about 20 hours into a save where I have never cleared the cache and it is now crashing every 5 minutes or less. So really you are damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Such a wonderful game, but it still needs some serious work before an official release. Ahh the pains of Early Access.

I hope people understand the issues that come with clearing the cache on this game... You can cause a lot of issues with the game if you clear it. It's fine the first few times, but after a while the game will violently reject clearing it.

Ah. So it happened to you too. I had to stop playing because after I finished building a large base and began expanding it towards the island (my transoceanic hallway), the game became unplayable. It went from 40-50fps down to 5-10fps. Didn't know how to solve the issue, so I stopped playing entirely. I was definitely sad; had to put my ambitious building plans on hold. I'm hoping they'll fix it upon final release.
