Early Access Review
(UPDATE: Just avoid like the plaugue. Planned microtransactions, premium ships only for mods and admins, and rich kids who can buy the other premium ships. Requests to downvote reviews, closing topics, banning users and REMOVING PLANNED CONTENT because of an unhappy playerbase. These guys are among the worst developers in the business. This experiement of a game has failed, time to wait for the next big hope, run by people that actually care about the community)

In the time I played I never felt a connection to anything. Big wide open spaces, npc ships. It felt like a lot of effort to go somewhere that looks and feels the same as every other spot. The water was not exciting. No big battles with giant whitecapping waves, rocking the ships, making you fight the waves and time your shots. Instead it feels arcady. Still fun, but lacking those moments of intense excitment and real skill that mother nature randomly provides. Wind should change during battle... why remove reality, when it would be a solid addition to the gameplay mechanics?

I love that you can see the shore now in battle, and use it as a tool. This makes the wind direction actually important (wind that changed direction could be a real challange).

Remaining in aiming view when looking around that ship would really help keep the immersion in battle, but instead looking around to get your bearings is penalized with a game mechanic that is a little jolting.

What I would give for life to be in the ocean and land to look at as I walk along the line of my ship, maybe even enter my cabin, as the men run about taking care of the ship.

Important things to keep the immersion, as most of the time in the game is spent in transition from one place to another. Instead we can only look at a stripped down version of our actual ship, dead seas, and calm sailing, with storms so weak they are easily missed.

There is potential here, the question is: will it be realised? I think it is imporant for developers to listen to the community and seriously consider if they are doing the right thing or not.
