This game is fun. I played this with 3 other people on a server, built a small village within a week. The most amount of time I've dedicated to any game. I like it because players can dedicate themselves to specific roles and level up skills related to those roles. For example, I was a dirt flinger. I terraformed the land and was also a lumberjack. So I worked on creating defenses and creating plots of land to build new structures. One person was a blacksmith and tanning expert, so he would make nails, weapons and leather pieces/armor for us. Another was an herbalist/farmer, for food and remedies. The last one was a hunter and forager. Just between the 4 of us, we made a sustainable community.

However, at the end of it all and with the bugs that are present, you leave yourself thinking, "Why am I wasting my time with this?" A week of my life wasted to have a bug completely roadblock progress and features that were not implemented yet. The only way we could get these objects is if we contacted the server admin and he spawned it for us.

It seems like the developers are more focused on the presentation of the game at this point than the actual functionality of it. It's almost as if they had their project lead hijack the functionality process and started prioritizing his "ideas" rather than creating a solid base to work from. They are also talking about an MMO version of it, but why? The game functions really sluggish already on a static map and serverside lag is very bad. As another user pointed out, people that dig below water level causes corruption in the server database, tree stumps and other objects that are laying around cause lag, etc. And what does a new player do on a large server where there are no resources for them to be productive? To me, it seems like it has a lot of potential, but the priorities are not straight for this game to be successful. Just seems like another one of those games that are selling an "idea" rather than an experience.

I would not recommend this game solely on that basis.

Thank you for being the pinnacle of the steam community and blowing 2000 hours of your life to sift through reviews of this game and nitpick on everyone's subjective tastes.

Seems like you just don't like the game pal, i read your review and i don't really see why you give it a negative review. You say admins needed to spawn you in some items and yet i've been playing the game fine for 2k+ hours and hardly need any help from an admin.

It seems like you've just been given bad info from a bunch of new players that have heard rumours, because digging below the water does not corrupt the database and i don't think tree stumps cause server lagg anymore.

No resources? steal them from your neighbors, stop being a mardy arse.
