I have not played a fighting game since Tekken 3 or 4 over a decade ago. I never understood the genre, and never really found it interesting if I didn't have friends to play with locally. But when I saw the first gameplay from this game, I was sold immediately. I'm a huge sucker for the Dragon Ball franchise, so it caught my attention instantly.

I bought it the first week of release and at full price, and I don't regret it. I quickly found some of my favourite characters, and started playing them. After seeing plenty of youtube videos I got excited and decided to actually learn and practice. To my surprise I had a lot more fun with the online matches than the singleplayer content. The game is super intuitive and makes it easy to learn and it does a good job of keeping your interest. Fighting someone online who does stuff you havn't seen before, and then trying to replicate that in practice mode feels great.

This game woke me up to fighting games, and I now happily play Mortal Kombat, Injustice and a few others. I'm still a massive scrub though lmao

If you think you will like this game, you most likely will, regardless if you're an experienced fighting game player, or just a Dragon Ball fan like me.
