Gunpoint is a great game with a great soundtrack. It deserves a sequel. My only complaint is that the game is really short. Another issue which I fixed after 15 minutes was the resolution. It does not really work for 1920x1080 unless (for Windows 10) you go to settings, search for display, change display settings, and then there should be an option to change font, app sizes, and everything. The default is 125%, change it to 100% and enjoy your 1920x1080! Now we should get more into the gameplay. The game is first and foremost a STEALTH experience, hence the stealth tag on the store page. The game has a few ways to assist you with stealth such as a red cursor if a guard can see that location. One of the games most critical mechanics is the rewiring. It is a simple mechanic but it works, it allows you to rewire the level and helps provide a bit of freedom. You can use the rewiring to open doors when you flip a lightswitch, or you can use it to zap guards. You can even get really in depth with this, for example you can chain things. You flip one switch and rewire it to turn off all of the lights in the level. Now that we have figured out how to rewire the level, what about any guards? The guards will shoot as soon as they see you, however you can sneak past them using your ultra-cool trousers that allow you to jump super high. You can use this to stick to walls and ceilings, or do an action jump through a window to escape a guard! The game also has no fall damage, however if you fall from high enough you make noise that can alert the guards. A minor problem I had with the game is that there really is not a punishment to being caught on camera, in fact some levels require you to rewire cameras so when they spot you they open doors. Once you beat the level, you get shown a rating system. This is one of my favorite parts of the game, as it feels like something to aim for. It is divided into seperate catagories. A few examples are violence, noise, and witnesses. It is difficult to make it through the level with non-lethal violence and no witnesses, as when you tackle a guard, you can punch them once to knock them out. However, just knocking them out leaves a witness. If you punch them over and over, they eventually die which results in the violence going up. This may sound like a bad thing, however I like it. The reason for this is because each contractor has a certain catagory that they favor more. An example of this is that one of the contractors says to leave no living witnesses, doing this results in a bonus and higher grade. Other contractors prefer you not to kill everyone. There is a way to have no witnesses without killing anyone, however this is quite tricky! It requires you to get through the level without being spotted and also without hurting any guards. This is the 'gentleman' rank (shows up in violence) and the 'ghost rank' (shows up in witnesses). The game has some great writing in my opinion and even though it is short and fairly basic, a great story. I will not get into the story but I will say that choices matter, and many achievements are given depending on which dialog option you pick. This game really makes me feel like Conway, the main character. Sneaking into a facility in a trench coat and fedora, but something is missing... smooth jazz. The soundtrack delivers and you can get it with the 'Special Edition' of the game (extra $10). The game also has a level editor and steam workshop, however I personally feel that most of the custom levels fall short (I have played 5 or 6 so far). I sit down to play this game for a few levels and end up beating it. This could either be because it is short, or because of how fun it is. If I were to give this game a number rating I would give it a 9/10. I would definatly recommend this fun little indie game!
