Tooth and Tail is a unique RTS game. The game seems to take a lot of inspiration from the novel "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. The most unique mechanic of the game is that instead of getting an overview of the battlefield, able to fly around it with a floating camera. Instead, you take control of a commander, leading your army from the front lines. While this mechanic is interesting, it can also result in moments in which you are not able to get to areas in time. The issue is not really with not being there, it is not being able to get units there in time. The game's main way of balancing you not being able to instantly see wherever on the map is the 'Burrow Home' mechanic. By holding a button, you are able to burrow back to any of your controlled bases. On the subject of bases, there are two types, windmills and campfires. Both types cost 60 food to build, and produce more food. Campfires, when built, give you a steady income of food. Windmills, however, do not produce food by themselves. Each windmill is surrounded by farmland, which cost 60 food each. Because of this, windmills are a larger investment, but they pay out 8x (I think) more. The game has 4 factions, the Longcoats, Commonfolk, KSR, and Civilized. Each of factions are interesting in their own right, and each have intriuging backstories. To sum each of them up real quick, the Longcoats are revolutionaries; the Commonfolk are the common animals, and they live underneath an old train station; the KSR are communists who want order; finally, the Civilized, they feed others to their own, but mask it as a religious ceremony. I have not messed around with multiplayer much, so I don't know the differences between the factions. From what I can tell, the KSR deploy units individually, while other factions build warrens. Other than that I have not messed around with much else, but look forward to messing around with the game mechanics. All in all, I would personally recommend this game on sale if you are skeptical, I bought the game on sale for 9 dollars instead of the 20. If you are willing to pay the full 20 I recommend the game, its one of the games that when I sit down and play it, I don't stop until hours later.
