I've only played 44 minutes of this game which is a very short experience, but even then it was a very dull one. Trying to connect to multiplayer servers was just a bit frustrating due to the fact it's difficult to connect to them and I either get a message telling me I couldn't connect or I didn't have the right maps or I just wasn't a friend of the host [using Gameranger].
I hoped Singleplayer would offer me a better time but unfortunately it was simply "Go to Objectives and Shoot The Thing" as far as I know. Combat was very standard, the core basics of any shooter, but didn't offer anything unique aside from different classes that have slightly different weapons such as a rocket launcher or a sniper rifle. However the feedback from shooting felt less than a peashooter. Even when I had the chance to become a Jedi character, the combat didn't feel very compelling.
I feel like a lot of the people who told me that this game was way better than what DICE made were giving Battlefront 2 more credit than it deserved. I'm sure way back then it was a very fantastic shooter for its time, but right now it's very outddated in terms of gameplay.

I think most of the reviews are based off nostalgia. While this game was enourmous amounts of fun, playing Split-Screen with my friend on the PS2, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it didn't age well. Some games just are like that, I feel.

And yes I remember there were also objectives in the singleplayer where you had to stand on the thing and wait so you can have move of your clone buddies to help you and have spots to change classes, but the fact that I forgot that was even an objective to complete in the game shows how even more... dull it is. Even with those control points, if you die you just end up at the beginning at the level and have to walk all the way back to where you were before so what's the point?

I'd also like to add that many of my friends own this game but the average amount of time they played was less than an hour. One of them even told me they hadn't touched the game in a year.
