Early Access Review
New Review (15th/Jun/2025 with 70.2 hours):
As it stands, the old review still stands, and this game was only now recently announced that it will be leaving early access soon. Zeekers, the sole developer of Lethal Company, has clearly stopped caring about this game. The last decently sized update was at the end of 2024, celebrating the New Year. During the time, there was no update at all, and it was only after the success of a competitor, Zeekers seemingly felt compelled to release an update.

This update made it clear he no longer cares. The update log was full of filler, and at the end of it promoted a plushie that his friend was selling... Upon launching the game, you were shown a 'Happy Halloween!' pop-up. Are you serious? You planned to release no updates for a whole year after making it big? This pop-up was quickly (and silently!) removed in a patch update, which also fixed a memory leak he added to the game. This new update also caused issues with modders, who are arguably the only reason this game is still alive, and actually the only reason I can fix the technical issues with this game.

Here is where I start to address my true concerns: Supposedly, we are exiting early access, but the game is still plagued with performance and optimisation issues that have been regularly documented by modders and fixed to the extent they can. This has to be a joke, right? It feels like this is only happening because Steam now started publicly display if a game has been in 'early access' for an extended period of time. Zeekers, in his ultimate wisdom, cannot seem to understand that if you force all users to render the game at 520px (Not even 540px!! We get scaling artifacts due to this.), but we all still lag with high end hardware, there is clearly a performance issue unaddressed here.

It's with a heavy heart that despite me wanting this game to succeed, I don't think it will ever get better with the current development. The developer doesn't care, and he will never fix problems because adding things make the update log seem more impressive.

As for the resolution issue that has existed since day zero: Use maths... Set the resolution to as close as 540px, fetch the user's resolution, calculate the closest divisible value to 540px. Your game art-style is preserved with no scaling artifacting, and resolutions of all size will be supported. Simply forcing all users to 16:9 and 520px is ridiculous and poor practice from any developer.

Old Review (3rd/Jan/2024 with 1.6 hours):
Was forced to install third-party software just to play the game at my resolution due to it adding black bars to displays that are above 16:9.

The game is fun, but technical issues need to be pointed out.

Did they not play test this? On the very first mission, if you take longer than 20 minutes, your target will just go behind the catwalk stage and never move again.
This literally soft-locks you from getting a silent assassin rating. Also, why does he have a generic scared NPC voice when he is frightened or spots you? It's so jarring after hearing his actual voice.

I waited years for this.

I love this game, and was willing to ignore this problem since the release of Hitman 2.

It is now Hitman 3 and a whole new rebrand (WoA), now, as someone who is incredibly sensitive to visual defects, I cannot in good conscious recommend a game from a company who has refused to add the ability to disable TAA (temporal anti-aliasing).

This has been a problem for me (and I assume for many others) since Hitman 2, especially for users with high resolution displays.
I find it incredibly wrong to force your players who may have lower end systems or high resolutions to use TAA that doesn't even properly get rid of the stair-case effect. Meaning all you get are lower fidelity textures and ghosting you can screenshot. The worst part of it all is that increasing the resolution scale (which can act as a decent anti-aliasing alternative) doesn't disable TAA either.

> Increasing resolution scaling doesn't disable it (even though it acts as an anti-aliasing technique)
> Increasing resolution doesn't disable it
> Disabling it in the registry files doesn't disable it
> NOTHING disables it

If they address this problem, I can recommend it. But as I see it, they seem to just not care to add the option to disable this technological cancer.

None of this was ever a problem in Hitman 2016... not to mention how well 2016 ran on my GTX 1050Ti. Good luck doing that past Hitman 2 (despite the graphical downgrades starting from there).

The game is overrated... it's just a good meme. The OST is awesome (but short), but I cannot look past how awful the voice acting is and especially the camera controls. I found even on hardest difficulty with no prior experience ever; the game was still too easy. I had the Sam battle hyped up so much only for it to be the easiest boss battle in the game. "Good luck with Sam, dude.", "Trust me, you won't be saying it's easy once you get to Sam!" and "Sam is gonna floor you." is what I was being told and I beat him first try.., like with most of the boss battles in the game.

The most damning problem with this game aside from the false 98% positive on Steam is how they charge $43 (AUD) for a <13 hour game. I take my sweet time with games and still finished it in such a short time. Unreal.

Bro.., what a disappointment. Clunky, unpolished mess with graphics worse than what was capable back then.

EDIT: Minor spelling mistake.

The game made me good at quick timed events and I accidentally killed Hank.

If you ignore the blatant ignorance of real life police you have a half-decent game. The people who made this game clearly do not know the law; so I hope that they were going for normie game-play and not logic. This game is fun mostly with friends.

If you know how police usually operate and the actions they take and actively are seeking it out then don't play this. It is a bit silly that shooting someone with a gun/knife can charge towards you and if you shoot them you will get penalised by the game while hitting complying civilians for no good reason other than enacting their rights is allowed.

The only things I dislike about this game is the undisablable 60FPS cap and poor ultrawide support (too many black bars).

The biggest issue I have about this remaster is that they used the Xbox/PS3 version of the build (like why??) which had lower resolution textures; thankfully there is a mod patch for this but it is an additional 12GB I should not have had to download.

This game is very fun.

The NPCs are stupid but the game is fun if you decide that being stealth isn't always worth it.

This DLC only offers very slight difference in gameplay and customisation. If you want to support Illusion or just really like the original game without DLC then go ahead and buy this for almost the exact same price you paid for the base game - no one will stop you. But just be aware that you do not get much.

I highly advise waiting for a sale if you do plan to buy this despite my non-recommendation. Enjoy!
