Much better character customisation in this release but Artificial Academy games have much, much better gameplay. A lot of the more extreme and hardcore features are unfortunately not available in Koikatsu which is a huge bummer as it gets boring really quick, otherwise. This can be fixed with mods but a lot of them cost money and as the developer of said mods are popular, they limit how many people can have a certain tier in their Patreon... meaning you need to pay $10 a month just for updates all because all the cheaper tiers are "sold out"...

I would be inclined to not recommend this game but due to the community support on it and the character customisation features, I am willing to recommend it. But if you like more "spicy" content; this might not be for you unless you are willing to dish out more than you already paid for this game alone (not even counting the DLC that costs the same as the base game..).

Rating: 55/100 - Wish it was less restrictive but it can be worked around with mods.

2024 review: This is still really good. It's a must have for anyone who plays 2D games with locked resolutions, such as visual novels.

a bit overrated ngl. it's hard to get into if you aren't into games dedicated to just grinding for no cause.

UPDATE (120+ HOURS):
I did eventually figure out how to complete the story by a stroke of luck... I found Azreal by pure chance and he let me do his challenge. After completion, it fixed the bug... AFTER I had already finished New Game+ 120% (even Riddler). The only reason why I went back to the New Game was because my 240% suit wasn't unlocked. Overall that one bug really ruined my experience but this game really is the best Batman game to replay after you finished the entire series.

UPDATE AFTER "FINISHING" THE GAME (70.3 HOURS):
After almost 70 hours, I beat the game, but I got the fake ending (50% of the full ending). I am currently on 97% complete, and I got a game breaking bug because of the Riddler trophies you are FORCED to complete if you want the true ending. After completing a Riddler trophy all the icons on my map were orange'd out and crossed. I couldn't finish the final Firefly arc or do the AR challenges, anymore. There is NO FIX for this, the only "fix" for this is starting the new game+ or new game. Which I would rather not after coming so far. I can't believe this game was left in this state. It's so terrible, I can't believe this is the last game, I'm appalled. I wasn't even able to finish the story, which is why I even started playing the Arkham series from the first game, so glad I didn't put myself through the hell of Arkham Origins: Blackgate and skipped to Arkham Knight, I would've never guessed this outcome.

OLD REVIEW (10.3 HOURS):
After playing the three other games in the series I was surprised at how bad this was. The story is great but it's so damn hard to play. I want to play as Batman, not the Batmobile. Gotta love how the bloody thing is in the promo posters and store cover like it's a main character.

Do I even have to mention how this game is the latest in the series and yet is the first with compatibility issues with it's PhysX/Gameworks crap? The only reason they removed MSAA is because they know the game has optimisation problems.

The combat even in hardest difficulty is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ easy. The game isn't about the combat anymore! Stealth has been utterly destroyed with this new "fear" crap they keep trying to push in the game. Not like it matters. You got the Batmobile. :)

Too bad the Batmobile can't save what a mess this game turned out to be.

Also Bruce looks awfully chubby is this instalment.
