Freespace, and its successor, Freespace 2, are the best space sims of their generation. I played both extensively in my teenage years. I joined the multiplayer community where players could gain control of star systems in an overarching and ever-changing campaign. I recall being a member of DarkWing at the time, specializing in bomber craft. I would build basic missions using FRED or FRED2 and practice bombing runs! It was a wild ride.

Fast forward to the present, and the drought of space sim games becomes evident. It is a genre that deserves revival - something that VR may help achieve. Star Wars: Squadrons is the best of the current crop,. It distills many of the excellent features and experiences of the sims that came before it, Freespace included.

If you love space sim games, there's so many from the 90's. Start with Freespace, and you won't be disappointed!

I just wish Volition, before they were shuttered, stopped making Saint's Row games for a hot minute and revived this classic franchise. Alas, Interplay made it difficult for them, as they always do.

Boltgun scratches that oldschool Doom / Quake itch. The player character is nimble and lethal. Every charge, every chainsword swing, every bolt that leaves the muzzle - they are utterly satisfying. It's unadulterated grimdark violence.

Special shout out to the sound design. I don't know why, but the sound of the Space Marine running, jumping, and - especially - landing, are incredible. Kudos to the developers - more games like this please!

Early Access Review
This game is difficult. I particularly like the glitch ability that makes you invulnerable for a short time. Given all the guns shooting at you, it makes sense! The sound design is easy on the ears, too.

So far, great game with potential! I look forward to seeing how Ransacked improves it over time.

I got it for free, can't argue with that.

I didn't need much of a reason to get back to playing Skyrim, though. =]

I highly enjoyed Deserts of Kharak. I'm a big Homeworld fan, and while I'm still holding out for another space-paced 3D RTS from the good folks at BBI (which is comprised of original Homeworld devs), DoK provides an excellent story. It's a prequel game to Homeworld, and describes the events leading up to the discovery of the Khar-toba.

The game was built in Unity, and it shows. Graphics are a little janky at times, but I can overlook that. The campaign, to me, was thoroughly enjoyable, as are multiplayer matches with my close buddies.

This is a solid pick if you love RTS games. And if you're new to Homeworld, go buy Homeworld: Remastered Collection!

Very few games move me to tears. This one did it in the first episode.

I'm waiting for the feels to process before I play it again.

Pick this one up. You won't regret it.

I won't bother making a lengthy review. I'll just say I've enjoyed every Elder Scrolls game, and Skyrim is no exception.

Any time I need to truly relax, I make a new character and start randomly putzing about. Skyrim has saved my sanity more times than I can count.

Thank you Bethesda! Looking forward to ES VI !

Disclaimer: I've been a user for one (1) day.

So far, I've used the controller for the following games:

Fallout 4
Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Mass Effect 1
BattleBlock Theater
Unreal Tournament 3

For each game, especially for Morrowind, the community configuration options are wonderful. Editing the configs is ridiculously easy, and instantly take effect once changed.

That right touch pad is crazy accurate, once you have the sensitivity where you like it. It also has TONS of ways it can be configured. For Fallout 4, I had to turn off the edge spin feature since it was causing unintended (for me) look movement.

Buy one. You will not regret it.

Edit: The controller is a little ungainly to grasp in the hand initially, but my grip has adjusted comfortably to it. The four diamond buttons below the right trackpad are a little farther away form my thumb than I'd like, but still easy to get to.

I played this title as a teenager way back in 2000. It was one of the first RTS games I had played that ditched resource management and focused solely on squad tactics. The game succeeded wildly in hooking me into the story, through its excellent voice acting and deep gameplay mechanics. The visuals still impress me even today, 15 years later!

Fun Fact: Jennifer Hale is the voice talent behind the game's protagonist, Sarah Parker. Her work alone makes the game a delight to play.

I include Ground Control with the likes of Homeworld as members of a gold standard for unique, top-tier RTS games. If you want a fun sci-fi story coupled with deep strategy, you'll want to pick this one up.
