I played Euro Truck Simulator 2 before hopping onto this game, why? Because the learning curve was too steep for a beginner in ETS2 (at least for me) so I played Euro Truck Simulator (2008) as a stepping stone for ETS2. Compared to ETS2, it's more straightforward, not being as complicated and having the more traditional elements such as linear upgrade paths.

The graphics are dated, the gameplay loop gets repetitve faster than ETS2, and there is not many landmarks in the cities so it felt more of a chore than fun after going through the same city multiple times. On the topic of cities, only major cities are included which reflects how dated the game is.

Buy it only when you want to prepare yourself for ETS2 or you played it before and want some nostalgia, otherwise go straight to ETS2.
