When I first played S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Call of Pripyat, I didn't stay long because it felt different than Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky. After a few months, I finally got myself to play Call of Pripyat. Call of Pripyat felt different to me because the usual violin theme of SoC and CS was gone and the HUD was unfamiliar as well. However I looked passed that and enjoyed the greatness that was Call of Pripyat.

CoP adds a new layer of difficulty for players, trading must be something in demand such as artifacts and weapons that are in tip-top shape, ammo, foodstuff etc. Healing is now over time and not instantaneous, guns degrade faster and are less accurate, enemies hit harder and have more health and other challenging attributes. Some improvemnt of gameplay elements has you completing side missions, introducing drugs to enhance yourself life, in-game achievements to earn and make life easier, retweaked artifacts and new artifacts are introduced, upgrading is now improved, artifacts respawning after emissions as well and other game changing elements. Finding artifacts with detectors are back from Clear Sky , and some side missions contribute to the end-game epilogue so doing side missions are now meaningful rather to earn equipment and/or chump change.

Despite Call of Pripyat improving from the first 2 S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, CoP still have some glitches such as ragdoll NPCs stuck in the environment, NPCs lined up in a row all aiming at one place with one rotating all the time, etc. But those glitches can be patched with mods. Speaking of mods, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games have one of the most dedicated and creative modding communities on Steam. (To be honest I never played with mods, I only played in vanilla because I am too lazy to download mods, don't judge me though). Another thing I don't like about Call of Pripyat is that at a certain point into the main storyline, there is no going back to the other areas (there is only 3 areas to explore which is a huge downgrade from the other 2 games) and nor heads up to tell you but do give you the chance to stay in freeplay mode to keep on exploring though just like in Clear Sky After reaching Limansk there is no turning back

Overall I think S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series is overlooked and not popular enough but still one of the best games in terms of horror such as survival horror, atmospheric horror, etc. Life of Boris promotes the series on his Youtube channel alot which is one of the reasons why GSC Game World will be releasing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in 2021 after it got canceled a few years back. One of the best modding communities, and one of best atmospheric games ever made.

I recommend this to gamers who have played the previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, people who like the post apocalyptic sci-fi theme being interesting and also semi-realistic as well , people who like FPS survival horror with some RPG elements, memers because of the numerous memes it spawned such as "You see Ivan" and everybody's favourite "Anu cheeki breeki iv damke", people who like eastern european culture, and people who are too cool to play mainstream games and enjoy cult-classics.

P.S. I'll see you all in 2021 when S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 comes out.
