Super Sanctum TD
I got this at a sale for 0,99€ or something which was well worth my money.
The game can easily be 100% done in less than 15 hours if you know what you are doing and are not unlucky with the "golden idol" achievement.

What made me interested of this game in the beginning was that it was a Sanctum spin-off. I had just finished Sanctum 2 (only 4p left) and found this when looking through other things by the publisher.
To start off a lot of enemies are familiar although there is an excess of them with reskins and stats changes. The retro inspired graphics is decent and the further you progress the more towers and perks you can have and chose from.
Perks are important as you from the start have to pay for every tower base, while with some perks you get it for free which can help a lot.

Another very important thing which is very true to Sanctum 2 aswell is that you have an important part to play yourself. On most stages towers will not be enough on their own and you will have to incorporate the use of skills to win.
Skills are like towers unlocked the further you progress.

At the start of the game it might quickly feel a bit difficult as you lack a lot of good things. You only have one skill, but can with time unlock so that you can chose up to 4 skills every stage at the same time, the same goes for towers. Perks are from what I recalled unlocked one extra point per new level you complete (14points in total?), which means that you will not be able to use all perks as you never will aford to invest in all perks at the same time (can be reset anytime).
Ironically there are still skills I have not unlocked despite progressing through the campaign more than 2 times and playing survival.
So as you can understand everything becomes a lot easier when you can use 4 different skills and towers at the same time and have the maximum amount of perks in use.
If there is a stage with flying enemies do not forget to bring the anti-air tower...

Difficulty wise I have no clue what some people say. There are a lot of viable strategies and I never had to find a guide or get advice on strats to beat a level. Once I finished the campaign with 3 stars on normal I played it through on hard and only swapped one tower "anti-air" when the stage had flying and beat the game with ease from the strat I had perfected.

To Conclude
  • Retro styled TD game
  • Sanctum series spin-off
  • Familiar enemies
  • Perk system
  • Unlockable skills
  • Unlockable towers
  • 4 slots maximum for towers and skills to be used at the same time
  • 15 levels each with endless mode for competitive leaderboard
  • Easy to learn
  • Many viable strats
  • Essential to combine good use of towers and skills
  • -RNG achievement "golden idol"
  • -Maze building is simple and mostly just placing the tower bases with no requirement to think at all
  • -Enemies are mostly just reskins
  • -Lackluster soundtrack
  • -Does lack something that truly sets it apart from other TDs

Super Sanctum TD is a TD game with some nice elements, but lacks enough difference to other TD games to make it special. I would give it a 6/10 and recommend getting it on a sale. It is perfect for achievement hunting and some casual TD, with nothing too difficult and few negatives. I also like that it has used many of the enemies and towers from the Sanctum series and replaced the FPS factor with skill usage to incorporate that towers alone will not be enough.
