You know what this is all about. Excepting a few uncommon technical glitches concerning audio and squads, game is functional and fun!

I'm in a very neutral spot and mixed emotions while I write this review. As wonderful of an idea as it is on paper, it is not very well executed and an acquired taste might be what you need if you want to play this. The idea of a hardcore RPG in a fantasy world with survival elements and a "go to your own adventures" narrative, so to speak, is a lot that I and plenty of people enjoy: A game that allows you freedom, that demands being clever and has lots of features for gameplay value. Sadly, it isn't what you find here. The world is empty, the clunky combat would be more tolerable if you weren't so vulnerable at the start of the game and if you were given more time to fulfill your first mission, which if you don't you'll lose an important part of your resources. I see potential in this formula and I hope that I'll happen upon something like this one day and it'll meet the depth that I wish it had, so I endorse this for encouragement and a clever idea more than its execution.

This game isn't perfect, but trust me when I say that Blasphemous is a good sack of beatiful artistic direction and relatively simple, but fun gameplay that perfectly mixes the dark fantasy of Dark Souls with some hardcore platforming and a side of Metroidvania vibes. Skip forward to the list for the TL;DR

Before making a pros/cons list, I have to express that Blasphemous isn't nor a lot of Dark Souls nor Metroidvania, but it's clearly inspired by either. As I mentioned, the Souls-like vibes are mostly given by the dark fantasy setting, the which is inspired by the Spanish obscurantism (more on that in the digital art book. Highly recommended a read by the way!) and the way we are given no more than a setting and an brief introduction to the land of Custodia, all the other lore is printed on the items for you, it is up to you to have a read or not, the same way you'll have to pay attention to the NPCs quest lines.
It's Metroidvania vibes on the other hand come from the good share of platforming that is the whole game and the wide variety of areas you visit, with that precious background design that truly submerges you into a room despite being printed behind platforms and enemies in a 2D setting, and the numerous secrets you can find with a little intuition, observation and the use of the skills that let you move around the world, although here they are relics that will give you access to those secrets and aren't precisely mandatory for the game.
With those two in mind is where Blasphemous makes its own soul: A wide world of platforms that feels naturally connected between areas, hardcore and rightfully frustrating platforming, combat that requires you to be deliberate and accurate, and a "two phase story" that gives you some freedom on how to tackle the game; although it does misses the "being stuck in a room, find skill to get you unstuck after exploring and finding your way" that Metroidvanias demand, this is reserved for secrets, and I think it does for the better.

There are plenty of enemies, with one or two attacks each, something I think could be improved but that isn't precisely out of the formulas it takes inspiration from, boss fights are all distinct and unique (♥♥♥♥ that baby you saw on the trailer though, I hate that thing) and you get a decent amount of techniques to fight with, skills become extensions and upgrades of those but the feeling of repetiveness is scarce, also akin to the games it was inspired by. I'll stop here and go on with the list, what I had to put in words has been said.

Edit DLC-3:
♥♥♥♥ it, no cons worth even mentioning.
Get the game, love the music, the story, the ambience, the now further refined combat and the horrific story of the Miracle and the High Wills, for twisted are their ways, and twisted is the pleasure replaying this was

A nice little pont-and-click. Graphics that despite simplistic are somewhat attractive.
This is not the best playable experience you might get, but it's time-travel focused story will give you a few puzzles and a good tale to have in your head

What true expansion content should be. This adds two entirely new campaigns that are parallel to the GTA 4 storyline and encounter with Niko in a way or another and between each other in a few occasions. Not a lot is truly deepened, but gives a small extra insight on events we might have already seen. Along with this, we have new vehicles, NPCs and weapons; but I'd say TBoGT adds a bit more by adding nitro and parachutes along with their own weapons and other elements. And as en incredible thing, despite being considered expansions, it is treated as a different game that can be fused with the original GTA 4 files, so not will you be able to play TLaD and TBoGT standalone, but a little extra storage will be saved if you already own/will own GTA 4.

Early Access Review
I got hit by a zombie, died out of hypothermia. I respawned, looted a two floors house, somersaulted on the steps and felt to my death. Later, I hid in a room from a zombie, he went away to then climb over and through the wall.
