Early Access Review
Update:

So I gave it a shot again. While it seems like there have been some minor quality of life improvements like the soldiers taking appropriate postures while in firefights, it still feels like juggling plates. I had guys I had to micro in a village going from door to door, while I had others on the road doing car checks that needed me to tell them to manually check each car. It was saying there was no interpreter present even though he was like 3 meters away from the search. I had more guys in a firefight that I'd chased into another village, while HQ was asking me to get a convoy going to deliver aid that I would also have to micromanage them taking everything out of the car and then going door to door. I also was trying to clean up getting the wounded from the firefight into an ambulance to evac... Which, you guessed it, I had to micro manage treating and then picking up and manually loading them into the vic.

Again, this game really needs a pause or slow-mo implemented. There's just too much going on at any given point if you're doing everything that HQ asks of you.

Alternatively, if there were area orders that you could implement, it would go a long way to reducing the micro... Click on a squad, tell them to search cars, and they would setup security and have the interpreter go where they're needed without your input. Or get a truck together with goods, chuck a squad in there and tell them to go deliver rations and medical supplies door to door without you needing to tell them to do every single little thing.

This game has the potential to be a lot of fun, but you'd better be good at doing 10 things at once.

If I could, I would give this game a neutral rating.

This game is very close to being some special, but it is super hard to play as is. I think a push to pause where you could order units and just take a minute to plan and think. There's too much micromanaging necessary for there not to be a pause at this point, especially when you're managing something like a VCP and a village interrogation.

If the devs would like to avoid a push to pause, maybe make the friendly units a bit smarter with things like falling back, finding better ground or kneeling/going prone when they're engaged.

Graphics are good, sound is on point, and it's an interesting premise. I've been following this for awhile and I really hope it continues to improve. Get it on sale if you're going to buy it.

I'll try to remember to update my review in about 6 months.

I second this -
