Just Shapes & Beats is a wonderful spin on the bullet hell genre by combining it seamlessly with the rythm game genre. A lot of time and care has obviously been put into making each and every track a new and interesting challenge. While the story mode is only a few hours long the quality of the experience is almost bar none.

The music selection is top notch. I don't usually listen to chip-tune, electronic, or dub step esque music, but after playing this game I haven't been able to get the music out of my head for over a week now. I am also not a big fan of bullet hell games, but the simplicity of just avoiding the obsticles to catchy music caught me hook line and sinker.

The multiplayer is just the icing on the cake. Playing with up to 4 people online or locally is a blast and being able to play any of the tracks, including the boss fights means there's plenty to do. You can even join in on a public game just top have others playing with you. There isn't any voice or text chat so you won't have any interuptions form the other players... unless they're just dying a lot.

There's even additional tracks that can be unlocked in the Challenge or Playlist modes. The better you do in the tracks the faster you can unlock new songs. There's even specific challenges to go for after you beat the story across all of the different modes of play.

As a whole Just Shapes & Beats is a fantastic game. It's been in my mind since I first saw it at PAX East. I waited in line for so long to play the demo there and bought the game almost as soon as it came out. I can see myself coming back to Just Shapes & Beats over and over to play with friends or do challenges just to hear the music and chill.
