I received XCOM: Enemy Unknown free with my pre-order of Bioshock Infinite. My past experiences with turn-based strategy games convinced me the genre was tedious and boring. However, I figured I hadn't spent anything on this game, and had nothing to lose by trying. Playing XCOM: Enemy unknown has made me change my mind about the genre.

- The story unfolds organically
- The combat is accessbily tactical with considerations of elevation, cover, relative positioning, and aim modifiers, without being tedious or monotonous.
- The base and unit management are simple yet realistic

I have enjoyed every moment I've spent playing this game, and my only disappointment is that I didn't pay for it.
