A difficult, party-building roguelike and autochess-like. If any of those concepts appeal to you, I think this game is definitely worth checking out.

Although this is the developer's first PC game, they've made a few long-standing mobile games as well. Those attracted me with their cute graphics and folk-styled, upbeat music. It's definitely a strong point for this game as well. The battle animations here are simplistic, but are unique between units and adds a lot of charm. The music is dynamic and functional for reminding you when you're on a boss floor. Overall feels polished.

Encounters are more interactive than your usual autobattler, since you get to interact every turn by casting spells. Having to manage your cooldowns makes even the regular fights engaging, which is a issue I have with other autobattlers.

I've cleared the first two difficulties of the main story dungeon, but I feel like I'm only just scratching the surface of strategy. Successful runs depend on building on your passives (symbols) in order to prepare yourself for the final bosses, so a lot of the focus is on tripling and selling units to make space in your inventory. However, focus too much on tripling and selling too early and you'll find yourself too weak to take on the early bosses. Bosses will demand some knowledge on their abilities to know how to build against them, but you can check the bestiary anytime to view their movesets. A very welcome feature for the genre.

Even after I get all unlockables and stages unlocked, I could see this game having the potential for endless replayability like Slay the Spire. Definitely worth full price.
