this makes it so, as the name suggest, you share progression. While in this mode whenever one of you grab an item that upgrades your heal/lantern you both get one, meaning you can both level those items.
only downside is the host likely has to start a new game so you can get every item again. Also you cant have progressed to far before joining this way, since the game considers the person joining as just having completed the tutorial, no matter how far you've truly progressed.
