Early Access Review
Been playing outside of Steam, so don't let the 40 minutes played put you off this review.

Yes! In short : Very cool game.
And it's good to see that it's being continually worked on!

But yeah - there are a LOT of modulators and customisation options to tailor the experience to suit yourself. This takes me back to the days of Unreal Tournament where you could really tweak the settings of each match, and is sorely lacking from contemporary titles.

I like the artwork and the aesthetic of the game. Wandering down dimly lit corridors, looking out for those pair of orange glowing eyes peering back at you from the darkness. The game (when played in VR) is really quite atmospheric. Between the atmosphere and the game-play, it makes for a pants-crapingly tense experience. Having to focus your attention on a console whilst being cognisant that the 'Mandrillia' will be closing in on your at any time is a really nice touch.

I only hope it gets more fleshed out as time goes on.

Some suggestions :
- Networked multiplayer : Would be nice for a coop / team based play where two players in VR are working together...

- Tooltips : It took me a few games to figure out what I was doing.
Helpful hints (that you can disable) would speed this up.

- More maps : The same old map : Would be nice if there were more than one level. Perhaps Left4Dead style progression where upon on completion, or escape from one level, leads onto the next one as part of the campaign (Escape from Mandrillia, in this case). It would be nice to see how this game would play in different environments, and under different scenarios.
Or even if only for a fresh aesthetic and layout...

- Hiding places such as closets, and under tables (Alien Isolation style)...
(Might negate the need for cloaking)

- Oh and improve the force pickup mechanic... that just isn't reliable to use in its current state. Picking up items in general is a bit finicky.

- Can you get the option to play monkey in first person perspective? I find the ape takes up a decent portion of the screen space. And being in third person can allow you to swing the camera around corners in relative safety without being seen - an ability that the VR player doesn't have.

- It would be nice if you could hold onto the gun from areas that aren't the trigger hold without dropping the weapon. Like holding onto the shotgun by the barrel, for example...
