I finished the trilogy a few years ago and i've been missing it so i came back to the first entry, replayed it and got the achievements that I had missed on my first playthrough. I think it's time i do a review, i'll eventually do the ones for XIII-2 and LR when I play them again, which should be soon.

This game has its flaws, I'm not gonna lie. The story is good, the world is complex and i think that's because you're not the stranger from another world that needs everything explained to him because he doesnt understand anything (i'm looking at tidus here). In this game these things are not explained by the character, instead they are explained in an in-game encyclopedia as the game progresses. The combat is fun, it still is Turn-based but it demands a lot of attention and reflexes because time never stops in combat and in some battles you even have to pay attention to animations in order to avoid damage before hand.

a few things that are/can be considered cons: the game is linear (most of it) you only get to the open world section on chapter 11 if i remember correctly. The leveling is capped and is unlocked as you progress through the story, and the system is a little bit similar to the one in ffx but less grindy

Even though the game is linear and might be a little bit boring in the first few hours, i definitely recommend playing through this game from beginning to end. It's a good game overall even though it's flawed, and it's the first entry in the fabula nova chrystallis world, which is really interesting. By the way, the story and the combat only get better in the sequels, so we only go up from here
