It's a good game. If you enjoy stuff like Slay the Spire, you'll enjoy it. It has good meta progression, and unlocks keeping you invested. However, imo there's one massive area it falls short in... Each game is played with both a primary and an allied clan, but there's absolutely no synergy between those clans. Your clan choices effectively dictate the card keywords and associated mechanics you have access to, of which you can mix and match, but clans don't really supplement each other. The cards keep to simple keyword abilities, which, while making it accessible, rapidly causes it to feel very samey upon the realisation that there isn't much clever you can build into.

It's pretty good. Lost some of my respect for them for removing the demo when the game released. Having played the demo convinced me to buy the game at full price on release, something I never do, and they really should've kept it available

If the MORE you wanted was just killing red dudes, this is the game for you.

If the MORE you wanted was an interesting, and rather unique story, not told via optional secrets, you're better off sticking with the first game.

I played 3 hours of this, then refunded it because it wasn't worth the money to me. Please consider that I only experienced the first third of the game when reading this.

Relies on its gimmick (The combination of TRPG + Deckbuilding mechanics) without fully realising what makes TRPGs and Deckbuilders actually good.

Lack of strategic elements, poor card selection, limited set of card mechanics and synergy options, and many of the cards are objectively better than others.

On the TRPG side, it's as basic as you can get. Deploy your units, don't let the commander die, and plan your moves so you end your turns out of attack range. The most advanced elements it offers is having to press buttons, and extra deployment zones on maps.

It could serve as a good introduction to both of these game genres, but the game has nothing significant to offer anyone that has experience with either game type.

However, the polish is great, the game is very stable, and the story and characters are somewhat charming.

If the game was half of its price, and not sharing a price point with games that revolutionised the genres this game mimics, I may have recommended it.

Completely screws over the game's balance

Most base game trinkets are worthless after installing this

If they made the new area level 6 locked, like the Darkest Dungeon and made it properly late game content the balance would be fine, but you can jump straight into it and it's barely any more difficult than the base game
