TLDR: Game has no direction 3/10

While the base building is pretty good, this game definitely lacks a direction. It's a zombie survival game with pokemon collection that you can force to use a meaningless ability that you store in a backpack while you carry around military grade weapons. While the clunky movement can grow on you, this game has so many unnecessary systems and things that make the core gameplay very immersion breaking and un-fun. Having played survival games before, it wasn't as hard to pick up on core systems such as the base building and material gathering, though for someone who has never played a survival game before, GOOD LUCK!

Tons of text dumps for tutorials, minimal enemy variation, boring or lack of mechanics for enemies / bosses, and they even added that annoying messaging system from Elden Ring where when you're standing on top of a loot crate, theres a player note 2 feet from it to inform you that theres a "LOOT CRATE AHEAD"... yeah thanks because I totally didn't see it already.

With every update this game strays away from the fun it used to be. new bugs discovered every day while they pump out dog water skins. dont buy this crap

AGS has been making some fantastic changes to the game. As someone who casually plays NW, I don't mind 30 bucks for a nice handful of additional content seeing how AGS seems to actually care about NW.

The people downvoting and complaining about the fee for little content are the same ones that complain and then login to purchase a $20 horse from the store.

Wasn't planning on purchasing this game before and shortly after launch since I had never even heard of Baldur's Gate or had been a fan of turn based games, though convinced by the positive reviews I will have to say...

this is easily one of the best rpg games I have ever played.

Things I've enjoyed:
-can do quests / exploration in any order of your choosing
-approaching dialogue with different characters / races / classes has different pros & cons
-no fight in combat is ever the same
-endless interactions with the environment, in & outside of combat
-flashy and awesome looking spells and abilities (coming from one of the least popular classes: druid)

At time of this review I have just approached act 2.

At time of this review, login queues are back online. Queue of about 13k took about an hour to get in. This is unfortunately common with early access / new MMO's.

Game is fun. Combat feels responsive. Haven't come across many bugs yet and i've done quite a bit of exploring, dungeons, and questing with & without other players.

If you're thinking about purchasing early access, this game is at the very least worth the 20 bucks.

TLDR: buy this game when its on sale you won't be disappointed

The combat in this game really carries it hard. Tons of different combos with all of the different weapons and different ways to turn the tides in combat. Valorplates or the sets of armor with unique abilities assist in combat giving powerful buffs or summoning friendly ai to assist you. Extremely fun and underrated combat.

That being said, the story is absolutely awful and does not make any sort of effort whatsoever to make you feel connected to any of the characters. After a couple missions on your first realm, you'll have enough materials to craft yourself a new valorplate (set of armor with unique abilities) and some of these are female with females voices, straying away from the male Orin character that you play as on your very first mission. By the time you get to the last boss on the last realm, you don't know where you are, or who you're fighting, but you're probably having fun stabbing and cutting things.
