Early Access Review
I’ve been a staunch supporter of the Kerbal Space Program series, finding endless joy and challenge in the original game. When Kerbal Space Program 2 was announced, my excitement was palpable, filled with anticipation for another deep dive into space exploration with enhanced features and mechanics. However, the recent closure of Intercept Games by Take-Two Interactive has drastically altered my view and expectations for the game’s future.

Having purchased KSP 2 in Early Access, I was initially patient with the slow pace of development, trusting that the end product would justify the wait. However, the sudden shutdown of the development team has not only stalled progress but has also left a void where there was once vibrant, community-driven development. This abrupt end feels like a betrayal, considering the commitment and financial investment of the game’s community.

The most disheartening part is realizing that the game might never be completed. The recent reviews on Steam, now overwhelmingly negative, reflect a community in mourning for what could have been a groundbreaking sequel. Without the original development team, the game risks remaining in an unfinished state, potentially relying on modders to salvage what’s left.

This turn of events has significantly dampened my enthusiasm. Investing in a game is a leap of faith in the developers and their vision. With the core team disbanded, my confidence in the continuation and completion of Kerbal Space Program 2 is shattered. I cannot recommend purchasing this game under these circumstances. It’s a stark reminder of how quickly promising projects can falter when corporate decisions do not align with community and developer interests.
