The game itself is amazing, the world is beautiful, the lore and story are well done, the characters are well written, but It's far from perfect. Later in my playthrough I started having issues with loading objects and textures, so much so I had been standing on 'nothing' a few times when platforms didn't load visibly. I can't seem to do the heavy melee attack, both the light and heavy are mapped to left mouse button, and it seems holding the attack isn't what makes it go heavy. Aim assist has caused problems like when you could shoot the chains to free machines and have them attack an enemy camp, aim assist aimed for the enemy machine when I aimed for the chain. But all that said it's worth playing and I can't wait for the sequel to come out here on steam.

The game play isn't bad, the idea behind it was good, though the game was too short. However the developers have proven themselves untrustworthy and it's not worth buying anything from a developer who has proven themselves willing to cut content from a finished game (living games like MMOs where content is cycled out are different) Particularly given some of their other games takes that they haven't removed like the one where you have to leave the game on the ending screen running for hours if you ever want to play again

Garbage. Bad physics, didn't even know what I needed to do at first, though it's so simple you figure it out - just terribly designed. I farmed the achievements and uninstalled right then and there, didn't even bother the farm the cards.

The game is beautiful, but that's where the good points pretty much end. The combat is incredibly repetitive, which might have something to do with there being about half a dozen kinds of enemies in the game, with stronger variations, and the limited number of options you have for fighting them. There's one big random event, the Hyakki Yako, which doesn't seem to happen often enough. For 100% completion I still need to find it about 4 more times, I've done it 4 times through the entire game, and have been hunting it for hours now with everything else that I can do in the game complete, including all the other collection and finding things quests that you get in games anymore to add on time - playtime that gets this tedious isn't a good thing.

Even in the art and world there was a lot of misses - The city that makes up the game world is supposed to feel dead, but suddenly so. There's not enough cars on the streets, not enough clothing piles in the game world, it feels like it was already all but empty before the story started.

Update:
Revisiting this game years later, it did get better, but not enough to change things. The Spider's Thread Update made things better, it added new enemy types, and not just new versions of the same "person with umbrella", "highschool student", "Trenchcoat woman" or "society lady", that made up about 3⁄4 of every fight in the game. That said it doesn't use them enough in the game, I've fought two new enemies twice so far and I'm probably over half way through the game's story content again.

The big problems are still there, the city feels architecturally crowded, but like it was half abandoned when everything started, not enough vehicles and life littering the streets, combat still feels basic wind can handle most fights, water against the umbrella guys to destroy the umbrella, fire against groups or strong enemies, have only used the bow when forced, though may for achievement hunting, I can't even remember HOW to block, and this is even with sinking my upgrade points almost exclusively into traversal skills, very little into combat. Just like my first impression, it feels like a good idea where they cut so many corners they turned a square into an almost perfect circle.

The game looked good and has promise but there's control issues that made me just quit in the first mission. First, and a common issue among VR games, they give you a control scheme but show the mapping only on a single VR controller type - knowing what the controls are on an oculus does nothing for me on the index. The second issue is when I picked up a smart pad audio log, there seemed to be no way to drop it, the audio played, but I was in combat and couldn't grab a new clip to reload my pistol without being able to drop the smart pad item, which there was no way to do it seemed - made the game completely unplayable.

Start with a Legend of Zelda style base, add in some light soulsborn style combat, turn it all in an isometric camera angle that hides more secrets than it reveals, hide all the instructions deep inside the game where you need to find them, and finish it all with a cute fox. What's not to love?

Really this is a great game and a callback to an earlier era of gaming, where games were a bit harder and required you to think through things a bit more sideways. Even the manual in game is a call back to 30 years ago, with the pen markings filling out sections and notes, and even a few cola can/coffee cup rings on the pages. There's a lot to discover and an actual story that you won't understand most of even after it puts you through a few twists because half of it is told in an in game language you would have to figure out for yourself.

I do like the idea, and there is promise here, but the tapping is far too sensitive, it turns on randomly thinking I had tapped my headset, and sometimes doesn't even recognise me actually tapping it to turn it off! Perhaps if they also somehow made the tapping only work when the controllers were near the headset, as a double check that it's actually the user's hand and not just motion during gaming it would be much more useful.

Decently fun rogue like, reminded me a lot of Binding of Isaac (with less religious imagery and naked horrible things) but there are some issues with this game.

Biggest issue was the control scheme. It took a lot of getting used to even though it was similar to Isaac, this side on view as opposed to top down feels a little more awkward. Another big issue for my taste there's so little that needs unlocking as you play, just side rooms (most of which i turned off since they weren't worth using) and half of these things are 'unlocked' anyways in the DLC. All the items themselves seem to be in the pool from the start, with none of them unlocking as you make progress in the game, one of the things that's enjoyable about games like Binding of Isaac or Dead Cells. Some of the mechanics are pretty poorly explained and the game did leave me wanting a bit more complexity, but the references in it are fun and it's overall a good game.

Why would you get this game at this point? Everything that made it fun was simply made better in the remake. get Rebirth instead!

I like the general idea of stained glass puzzles, but there are issues with the system that makes this hard to play. The drag and drop sometimes freezes up completely, thankfully alt-tabbing out handles that problem but having to alt tab in and out of a game a half dozen times during single puzzles gets really, really annoying.

If they fixed the issues I'd recommend this game, but since it's nearly a year since the last update, they likely won't be solving the problem.
