An example of how the research page looked like, after some stage, combo between devices in a build become mandatory, there are like 30 kinds of values you will often considers in your build in order to archive your goal.
Now I am doing an "S400" run, the goal of this run is to do megaton of spell cast count (Aiming at 3 plus 12 digits, should be done within 3 days) to boost my Spell research #400, which scales with the max number of the spell count in a single run and gives better max mana if you picked it in a run.
Then I will pick S400 to boost the mana regen/coin production/assistants/spell tier of one spell with other elements for some later runs, which also could turn into other values, in order to archive my goals.
And I already try not to make it sounds too complicated :P
If you are excited by this kind interaction, it is the game for you.
