Incredible game, charming graphics and video poker style. Perhaps the best rogue like deck builder since Slay the Spire. It's a great one to introduce people to the genre with because people know how poker hands work.

It's good, but it also sucks. It's a good game, but it also has the most problems of any of the Dark Souls games, mainly with hitboxes. One of the most egregious examples of this is the hitbox for the opening grab/munch attack that mimics do, where it teleports you in front of the mimic to your death if you start attacking it from behind and don't move before the animation starts. There's a bunch of stuff like this throughout the whole game, and it's glaringly obvious to anyone who's played DS1 or DS3. On top of that, DS2's controls feel way clunkier. DS2 has some good bosses, but it also has too many filler bosses. Oh, speaking of bosses, some of them have absolutely terrible walkups. To name a few: Lud & Zallen, Blue Smelter Demon, Sir Alonne... Well, at least Sir Alonne is a good boss, so it's sort of worth it. There were, of course a few good QOL improvements that were added, such as using multiple souls at once and the ability to equip four rings instead of two. Powerstancing is something I wish had returned in DS3, because there's nothing quite like walking around in NG+ bashing everything with two King's Ultra Greatswords. And the Puzzling Stone Sword is a really neat dex weapon, I wish it was in DS3. Overall, flawed but good game, worst of the Dark Souls games.

I bought this game after realizing how Northernlion was misusing Endless Agony all the time because I wanted to try building a deck around it. I'm a fan of roguelikes, but turn-based tend not to be my thing, and I haven't really done any deck-building before, so I was naturally a bit on the fence for a while. I hopped the fence when I realized that I was actually paying attention to NL's Slay the Spire videos instead of using them as more of a company/background noise thing the way I do with Isaac videos when I'm playing games.

tl;dr: It's pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good.

6/30/2022: Game still good, got better with time. Was good enough that I bought it again on Switch when it came out, which is where I primarily play it now due to ease of couch play.

Not only does HuniePop have anime tiddies (that are easily uncensored), it's got fun gameplay to go along with them. And it's self-aware, so it's pretty funny, too.

Thanks, Jim Sterling. I'm a sucker for any sort of rogue-like (because that isn't obvious from looking at the number of hours I've played The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth). The style of this game is entirely different from Isaac, and has that same replayability. I love trying to get combos. I'm not very good at the game yet, but I've only been playing for an hour. I'll definitely end up putting several more into the game.

I wish the Steam achievements worked, but that doesn't mean it's not fun. It is. Also fairly punishing to beginners and anyone trying to get the achievements for getting to X point without taking damage. Also definitely give the online co-op a try. It's pretty great if you have friends. (Sorry if you don't and it's a sore subject.) If you can't get the online co-op to work, either put in the <15 minutes of effort and make it so that you can host or get a friend to.
