It's good, but it also sucks. It's a good game, but it also has the most problems of any of the Dark Souls games, mainly with hitboxes. One of the most egregious examples of this is the hitbox for the opening grab/munch attack that mimics do, where it teleports you in front of the mimic to your death if you start attacking it from behind and don't move before the animation starts. There's a bunch of stuff like this throughout the whole game, and it's glaringly obvious to anyone who's played DS1 or DS3. On top of that, DS2's controls feel way clunkier. DS2 has some good bosses, but it also has too many filler bosses. Oh, speaking of bosses, some of them have absolutely terrible walkups. To name a few: Lud & Zallen, Blue Smelter Demon, Sir Alonne... Well, at least Sir Alonne is a good boss, so it's sort of worth it. There were, of course a few good QOL improvements that were added, such as using multiple souls at once and the ability to equip four rings instead of two. Powerstancing is something I wish had returned in DS3, because there's nothing quite like walking around in NG+ bashing everything with two King's Ultra Greatswords. And the Puzzling Stone Sword is a really neat dex weapon, I wish it was in DS3. Overall, flawed but good game, worst of the Dark Souls games.
