Final Fantasy VI is a masterpiece. Where FFV was goofy and didn't take itself very seriously, FFVI is a sprawling epic with the most playable characters across the entire mainline series. Everything is refined and perfected in this entry.

The story is quite good, by far the best up until its time. I love all the characters and their journeys, even if some characters have a lot less to do than others... Umaro but in the end I was left satisfied and knew most characters quite well.

The magicite system is in my opinion better than FFVII's materia system but worse than the jobs in FFV. I dunno, something about the changing outfits just makes me love FFV's jobs. That's not to say magicite is bad though, I absolutely love it. Sure, you don't get many at the start but later in the game the options are endless and you can build characters however you like.

As a remaster this game is also very good. Everything is a bit brighter than I would have liked, but that can be fixed with numerous mods. Speaking of mods, there are lots. I personally use the Moogles and Mods discord for finding mine. However, mods are by no means essential and you can easily enjoy this amazing game without any at all.

Between all the 2D Pixel Final Fantasy games this one blows them all out of the water. Please, please play this if you have even a passing interest in RPGs. You will not regret it.
