The first game was great for what it was at the time.
I won't comment on the story or gameplay, as I couldn't manage to get through the first level before setting it down.
I managed to get a manageable setup in the first Deus Ex after fiddling with the graphics and rendering settings for a few minutes, no such luck here. The resolution is locked to a square regardless of what you set in game, and the game itself changes my computer's resolution settings.
My biggest issue is that apparently the game seems to close and re-open itself whenever going through a loading screen, as if the program needs to restart entirely just to load the next area.
To be expected with such an old game I suppose but its predecessor gave me no issues after tweaking some settings given to me clearly.

Genuinely satisfying from start to finish, challenging gameplay, gripping storytelling, lovable characters.
A wonderful world has been built here, filled with a great background and shocking twists. And another slew of complementary adjectives.
I'm glad I got to experience this world first hand, and can confidently say this is taking the place of my top favorite metroidvania. Not only is the world and exploration a gift, but the combat is incredibly intensive and the bosses and minibosses keep you on the edge of your seat as you learn and adapt to their movesets.
Well worth the full price, although I got it on its release sale. My first playthrough netted nearly 40 hours, but I'll more than likely play through it again to re-experience the thrill.

At $6 I've got nearly 9 hours and I've only really "completed" the first of 4 areas. That's a Dollar to Hour ratio I'm very comfortable with.
Great gameplay if you've got an eye for logic and optimization.
My only gripe is I prefer the networking more than I do the hostile environment. I'd enjoy an option to disable enemies and hackers altogether, even if they are integral to the plot.

Awesome game with awesome puzzles, an awesome story, awesome environments, and awesome philosophical rumination.
Two thumbs up!

Can’t buy a game that doesn’t have a save function.

Would pay for a large scale Turn-Based RPG by this developer.

I won’t be completing this DLC. I won’t say it’s bad but it’s not Outer Wilds.
I had more than enough of the Horror genre in Dark Bramble (my least favorite part of the base game). The pitch black stealth section is where I dropped it, and while the parts before aren’t as insufferable, I was left somewhat clueless several times until I eventually stumbled into answers.
The complete lack of text is jarringly dissimilar to the base game, with written text aplenty to read through. The lack of textual hints in exchange for a more visual approach makes the “aha!” moments more meaningful in some cases, but on the same coin being clearly showed what to do in other cases isn’t as fun as figuring it out for yourself.
The horror elements are my main issue. When I think of “The Outer Wilds” as a game I don’t think of sneaking around in the pitch black trying to hide from lizard goats, under a time constraint at that.
You’re better off just getting the base game.

I’ll say what everyone else says. Go in blind. The worst thing you could do for yourself is spoil the experience by doing research beforehand.
A trans-solar system exploration adventure game dealing with time loops, dynamically changing planets, and lost ruins of an ancient alien species. Lots of reading and world building through environmental clues and texts.
