A diamond in the ruff. Released too early with too little features to hang around. Had this game waited until it was complete before opening up on Steam, the player base would have stuck around.

In all, I really love this game. It easily would have become one of my favorite games with its unique gameplay. Halo-style weapons and arena maps, portals, and no pay-to-win features made this an extremely enjoyable experience.

May you rest in peace, Splitgate.

112 Operator caught me by surprise. Some of the calls get pretty intense and have me thinking, "I can't believe they are allowed to put this in a video game." The RTS gameplay is also fun. Especially in the beginning.

This game doesn't scale well, though. As you get further into the game, the spawn rates of call increase while at the same time you also unlock more districts that you have to manage. On the other hand, you income grows rather slowly and is almost constant compared to the growth of calls. This means that you will exponentially gain more calls while your force increases linearly by just a few cars each day.

To offset this growth, the game offers you the ability to use AI dispatchers that send units to calls. That sounds cool in principle, but it is completely useless in-game. The AI doesn't take into consideration of the vehicle or gear of your units. This means that you will have SWAT teams pulling people over while patrol car after patrol car is massacred attempting to stop a street gang. In the end, you will never use the dispatcher.

Overall, much of the gear is useless in the game too. But you wouldn't know this because the game doesn't explain how any of the stats work. I spent maybe close to 4 hours of my game time just browsing the discussion in the Steam overlay trying to figure out what everything does. The only useless guide is written by a dev (or an associate of the developers), but that guide is a sugar-coated copy of the in-game explanations.

To further my point at how basic this game truly is, the legitimate strategy recommended by 911 Operator veterans is to spam patrol cars, fire pickup trucks, and the largest ambulance. Volume.

It's all about the volume of your force. Meticulously doing things only works in the early-game of your run.

Have fun!

Fun game but every match is the same. There is little replayability. You can increase the difficulty to give an edge, but instead of the AI getting "smarter" it just cheats its balls off by spamming artillery and infinite resources. Winning in the higher difficulties comes down to the RNG of your mid-match rewards.

At most, this is worth $0.99. It would be more fair if this were free-to-play.

I'm not saying it's a bad game. But it is WILDLY overpriced.

I think I would have found this game more entertaining had it been shorter. After the first stage, the game lost it's charm. Nevertheless, it is a good game. Reminds me of the old flash game, Black Navy War.

I would recommend this game on sale. I would price it at around $5. There are far more re-playable games for $16.99.

Steam Deck Notes:
It runs... okay. The d-pad and left thumbstick are supposed to do two separate things, but somehow the game sometimes mixes up these inputs. I cannot tell you why. If it weren't for this issue, I would say get this game for Deck.

We've all played these flash games before. I think you can see why this is recommended.

Steam Deck Notes:
Runs great. Uses trackpad. You only need to use the keyboard to name your character at the start.

First impressions are a super cute, lovable story. The atmosphere of the game is well done. It brings such a cozy vibe. I'm also impressed by the amount of different types of LEGO-based puzzles the developers were able to come up with.

Despite how visually stunning the game is, I would recommend waiting until this game is on sale. The total gameplay doesn't exceed two hours. So unless you want to shunt out $20 USD on 2 hours of gameplay, do wait.

Steam Deck Notes:

While the game has full controller support, the handling is awful! The joysticks movement does not align with the camera angle. Further the camera angle resets about every 5 seconds which can mess up your placements.

The highlight for the block you have selected is difficult to see, especially on the small screen. To make matters worse, the color is white which everything else in the game has a general white-ish hue to it. I don't know what the developers were thinking here.

All this becomes a problem since some of the puzzles are timed. If you can't tell what piece you have selected or how to move it, then you will easily mess up the puzzles and have to restart.

I would still recommend this for the Steam Deck. The game doesn't take longer than 2 hours to complete, so these inconveniences aren't the end of the world. Overall, the game is heartwarming and worth it on sale.
