This is the perfect game for hooking up a PC or laptop to your living room TV and plugging in a bunch of controllers to play with your friends you don't have!

The price is fair considering this supports not only split-screen, but also Steam Remote Play Together. That means only one person actually needs to buy the game then you can invite people to play remotely while you stream the game to them. They can even remotely play on their phone!

Steam Deck Notes:

Runs great with full controller support.

Simple beginning, however, there is something of a steep learning curve once you get outside of the tutorial. I would liken this to Factorio, but without the combat and conveyor belts. This game uses a couple unique mechanics of its own: roads and supply depots. The in-game guide provides a little insight on how these two features work, but applying them effectively is entirely up to you.

I am certainly going to be following the progress of the game. I see it has a lot of potential to become a unique city-builder / resource-gathering game.

I absolutely love this game! The concept isn't too far from your traditional game like Civilization except it's far simply and cards replace your units, resources, and structures.

It also has a likeness to a game like Minecraft where you have to collect resources and learn about the various crafting recipes. Learning about recipes is actually a huge aspect of the game and is called, "Insight". You can earn money and sell cards you don't need then use the money to buy card packs which have a chance of include Insight cards: cards that have new crafting recipes. You can also feel free to experiment of resource combinations to try and guess the crafting recipes on your own.

I thought this game would have a high learning, but it is designed very well. From the get-go you are introduced with quests that guide you in learning how the game works. If you lose in the first few runs, it's no biggy because you pick up the quests and insight where you left off. It's up to you to bring back all the resources you had before.

I would guess that I am about 70% way through the game by now. At this point I only have two major complaints: as you get further into the game, you will start to have lots of cards in your hand. This produces two problems:

(1) A good chunk of your time will be devoted to constructing "sheds" which increase the amount of cards you can have in your hand by 4. This number is a pretty big deal in the early game, but by late game it is small and insignificant compared to the amount of cards you will be needing. Thus a considerable amount of time will be spent constructing sheds. A fix would be to introduce an upgraded version of the shed that can be constructed with late-game materials.

(2) You can stack cards, but stacks can't overlap. When you make something, the new card is spat out in it's own stack. This new stack can sometime overlap with existing stacks and cause things to shuffle around. This becomes very annoying when you have many strategically placed stacks; bogging down your efficiency. It would be nice if there were an "anchor" card that would prevent this.

Steam Deck Notes:

Runs great. The default controls are nearly perfect. I would recommend rebinding R1 to hide the quests menu since that functionality is not bound by default.

There are only two problems I have come across:

(1) Normally to pause the game, you press "B". Then "Y" is used to accelerate the game time. Now when you open the quest menu, the game pauses on its own and resumes when you close the menu. But if you manually pause the game before opening the menu then close it, the game will remain paused. However, to resume the game you will have to press "Y". For some reason, "B" stops working when you do this.

(2) There are certain in-game events that cause a small notification menu that pops up in the middle of the screen. For some reason, there is no way to close the menu (that I know of) using the controller. So you will have to use "Steam+<modifier>" to manually close the menu.

Well designed to gradually introduce you to Morse code. The scenarios categorize letters into groups with similar phonetics (or whatever you would call the dots and dashes). There are also a couple of challenges for when you start to pick things up.

I would hope to see this made available for the Steam Deck in the future.

Middle schooler me would have love this game had I known about it back then. There is so much to do in this game. You can fight, sneak, build, and roleplay.

The tutorial only teaches you the basic controls. That means you will have to learn the means of survival on your own. Personally, I like this approach. It gives you goals by trying to learn the ins and outs of the game. You can old search up guides for generic need-to-know and niche things. I personally think everyone should know that you can and need to cover up the windows of the lower levels of your safe haven.

I can see why this game give you the option to purchase it in a 4-pack. This game has a lot of co-op potential and would be really fun with friends.

Even though this game is early access, I think it's worth picking up.

Steam Deck Notes:

Runs great and the controls honestly weren't as bad as you would expect. Everything is accessible and intuitive (for the most part). But don't expect to become some master survivalist on this platform. Even though the controls are easy to use, it takes a lot longer to navigate the menus and perform actions than with a keyboard and mouse.

There are a range of difficulties and scenarios all of which cater to varying skill levels. If you are more for the casual side of survival and building, then the Steam Deck is fine.

The simulator itself isn't bad. For myself, I find it hard to get enjoyment out of the game.

The game has a lot of different entities to play with that all behave differently. There is also a fairly complex diplomacy system that can change both dynamically and also by player influence.

Surprising to me, entities also include hidden traits that you have to unlock through various means of progression. I honestly wasn't expecting there to be anything worth grinding for, so this was a pleasant surprise.

All that said, the game itself just isn't fun. There's a lot to do but no direction. The player is introduced with a quick tutorial that explains the UI and a slap on the back saying, "Good luck!" I would like to see proper scenarios that introduce the player to the possibilities of this simulator. Having a formal introduction would make it far easier to get into this game.

Steam Deck Notes:

Runs fine, but is really meant to be played with a mouse and keyboard. You can use the touchscreen, but I prefer not to.

DO NOT BUY

The game is nothing more than a showcase of BI's flight mechanics they were developing for Arma 3. There is no game here.

A fresh new look on the old maps. But I would personally just play the old games because even though the maps are "remastered" they threw in all the new guns into the loot pool.

Great game and the community is alive and well! Wait until the game is on-sale. There is not reason this should be bought at full price 10+ years later.
