The more I play this game, the less I enjoy it and I know exactly why.

For starters, multiplayer crossplay was a mistake. The fact that they haven't included a way to opt out of it or limit your matchmaking pool (despite saying that they would do so MORE THAN A YEAR AGO) means that, if you're playing on M&K like me, you're stuck against a team of almost all controller users who frequently are able to outplay you through no fault of your own! How, you may ask? Well, given the fact that controller users are "compensated" for their more limited aiming abilities with insane tracking from the game engine itself, you'll probably find yourself losing gunfights left and right because you don't have a pseudo aimbot in your pocket.

Second off, if you're like me and have very few friends willing to party up in multiplayer with you, you're likely to find yourself teamed up with randoms while your opponents are at the very least somewhat coordinated. Combine this with the fact that you'll already be matched into games where you'll be suffering for choosing to not rely on a crutch, and you will struggle to win games at all, much less do well in them or complete the missions you need for getting points to unlock the cosmetics.

Lastly, the matches themselves just aren't fun. There's no real camaraderie in it anymore, either you somehow win in silence with your team of randoms or you're stuck in a match that by all means should've ended five minutes ago while you and your team are farmed for XP by people with enough of it already in a game where the XP does literally nothing. More often than not it just feels insulting, and to make matters worse you're penalized for leaving the match early by being banned from matchmaking for a short time! No, 343, I do not need to be put in time out because I decided to leave a match that clearly wasn't going to get me anywhere, I need you to fix your garbage matchmaking!

All of these combined makes the multiplayer of this game painful to slog through. I used to enjoy this game, but now it's just the same sweaty grindfest as every other FPS on the market, and while the campaign and other PvE gamemodes are still as good as they were in the original games, you're not going to be spending most of your time in there. If you want to play the campaigns, then play them and have fun. If you've come for the multiplayer though, then go try to herd cats in the middle of a gunfight. You'll get the same experience and you'll probably be more likely to come out of it happier than you went in.
