This review is not going to include the DLC, as much as I would love to **** on something that I never paid for.
In comparison to the other Bioshocks, I would not recommend this game. I would just tell you to go play the remastered versions of the old games (if they weren't also ****).
But instead, I purpose an experiment:
Imagine if this game, in light of the other games, had the karma-like options of, say Bioshock 2. Where bad choices meant you were more powerful, but had some sort of downside that would rear it's head at the end.
Imagine if this game had gun options like Bioshock 1, where it actually felt like the gun YOU were carrying was YOUR GUN, and not some kind of normal pistol off of an officer. Where your gun looked and felt like the third hand of Zeus, and everyone else was inferior.
Imagine all of these options in one game. It would've been amazing!

Now imagine if that game wasn't called Bioshock.
Imagine that game was called something generic, like Eyes in the Skies, or Booker's Ascent.

I feel like those missing options were there in the game at some point, since they're such a basic idea for a design.
But we couldn't have basic, that's too little for us.
Oh, sorry, I meant THEY couldn't have basic.
Yes, I, Violet the Florian, believe that this game could've been fantastic, if it wasn't for the greed of the publishers wanting to be the biggest kid on the block.
"Take away all those BASIC mechanics, no one likes them anyways. Take away the weapon wheel, COD players don't need more than 2 guns. Slap Bioshock on there and call it a day, I gotta burn some cash."
Try your best to ignore the Bioshock name next time you launch this game, and see what you think afterwards.
