The core concept is very cool. Being able to control infantry, tanks, and ships directly and walk around inside your bases and ships gives an incredible sense of scale. It’s really cool seeing how massive everything feels. I also like that you can interact with your base through in-game terminals, even if their placement can be very "uncreative".

Unfortunately, the execution feels very unpolished right now.

The UI is not very responsive and often gives little or no feedback when you issue commands, so i'm left wondering if something actually worked. Many ship icons look almost identical, which makes it hard to quickly find important units like builders among the other ships. Performance is also surprisingly poor, and the camera feels clunky... I often feel like I’m fighting it just to look around.

Key base information like economy, production, tech, and power is buried in menus and difficult to access quickly when you need it.

Ship combat also feels awkward. Ships have to get almost point-blank before engaging, which looks and feels wrong... combat range should be increased. Combat overall also feels heavily space-focused: once you land on an enemy asteroid, the match is effectively decided. You can lock them in and destroy their space economy with little chance of recovery at that stage, which makes ground combat feel less meaningful.

In the original Executive Assault, I could create specialized unit loadouts with different weapons. That either seems removed as I cannot find it now, which is a strange downgrade. The tech tree is large but you always go down the same route every time, so every round feels very similar. But there are three distinct factions which cater to slightly different playstyles, which is nice

There are also no clear alerts when your ships are attacked or destroyed, I have no idea why this is the case...

Overall:
There’s a lot of potential here. The concept is great, but the game needs significant polish and usability improvements before I can recommend it. It can still be fun in co-op against a friend or AI, but it’s hard to recommend in its current state.
