Bought this because I thought it had a cool art style not expecting much else. Left crying over the ending to one of the best games I have ever played. The story and the art direction bring this game home, and the gameplay suffices with only a few annoyances here and there. Overall I think this is a must play game. Go in blind, read all the different notes and things in game, and just take it all in as you go.

This game and its developers can be compared to something like Van Gogh finishing his masterpiece Starry Night and then just proceeding to throw his ♥♥♥♥ all over it

I was really hyped for this game and when it came out I absolutely loved it...for about 30 hours. The intro to this game is very long but it has a really engaging story so it feels fitting. Once you get to the actual open world it feels so vast and full of things to do. Then overtime you'll start to realize that there's really not much to do at all on the map. All there is to do outside of cities is kill like 5 bandits in camps that are few and far between and find treasure that most of the time isn't even that good. The combat is very engaging at first but there are two major issues with it, the first is that spamming honestly works, the devs have tried to convince us that it doesn't in all of their previews, but you can spam stab at 90% of enemies and kill them in about 3 seconds. The other problem is the way progression works, over time you character will get better at skills you actively use. The problem with this is that you get extremely overpowered in this game despite it being "realistic." Plate armor is basically the best you can get and even other opponents in plate are no match for you if you have it on. Speaking of combat, there's not much of it in this game, and to be honest this is a game that has WAY too much dialogue and not enough action. I get it, this game is realistic and you shouldn't be fighting every 2 minutes, but it gets to points where I've gone a solid 3 hours without any action whatsoever. I love games that have a lot of interesting dialogue and story, hell, the Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time and that game has a ton of dialogue in it, the difference is that the devs knew how to balance action and story well, Warhorse doesn't. I suppose if a game that's 80% dialogue/walking around sounds fun to you then this game is great, but I think for most people it's just an incredible bore. Now onto some other things; the side quests are generic and boring, besides a certain few. They consist of fetch quests, bounties on bandits, and stealing from people, that's about it. The main quests are good at times but overall it's extremely inconsistant. The first 20 hours of main quests are really well done but after that it becomes: Go here and investigate an area for an hour, find the guy who you were looking for, he knows nothing but has a lead on another guy who might, go there and search around for another hour, repeat. I honestly can't even continue this game because of how boring it got after a certain point. The save system doesn't help either, you can't just quit at anytime you want, the game decides to waste your in game money and real life time. You either need to buy a one time use drink called a saviour shnappse or sleep in your own bed or one your rented at an inn. It's kind of neat at first but later on it's a huge annoyance. Not to mention the bugs, it's honestly buggier than Assassin's Creed Unity on release. You get stuck on objects all the time, there's a ridiculous amount of pop in, NPCs walk around without heads, the AI is just kind of stupid in general, etc. There's not too many gamebreaking ones but when there is it's devastating because of the awful save system. I once got stuck in a doorway for 10 minutes before I decided to revert back 40 minutes of gameplay because it was the last time the game had actually saved. Overall, I really wanted to love this game, I waited so long for a realistic medieval rpg but this is just one big middle finger to everyone like me. 4/10 is the absolute most i can give it because of the bugs, maybe a 5/10 for being an average game without the bugs.

TL;DR: Progression makes the game way too easy, side quests are generic and boring, main quests are good early on but become generic and boring, next to nothing to do in the open world, awful save system, loads of bugs. 4/10 overall, if the game didn't have so many bugs I'd give it a 5/10

This isn't like other negative recommendations because of the p2p. I wouldn't recommend this game because of what it turns into after a certain point and multiple other things. Once you hit reputation one (basically prestige which you hit at level 20) you'll start to get matched with people way higher level than you which will result in rather frusturating games. Many of these higher levels play in a certain way which in my opinion makes the game not very fun. By that point, blocking normal attacks is very easy and one of the only ways to get hits in is to stun your enemy with a guard break. This eventually becomes the only way you can fight, just "stun locking" people until they either run away or die (at least in my experience or should I say the majority of the matches I've played). It's a lot similar to Chivalry (not the combat) to where once you hit level 15 you will meet people who play in very annoying ways. Like I said before almost everyone past a certain point has learned to fight like this because it ends up being the only way to kill people. For me it made the game less fun and more frusturating to the point where I just don't want to play. There's a lot of other problems like "revenge mode builds" where you can abuse game mechanics to almost always being able to go into a state where you have more health and do extra damage. Right now there's just a lot of problems with the combat, if you want a good medieval game with fun combat and balanced gameplay I would recommend Mount and Blade: Warband. I don't have a reveiw for it but the amount of hours I have on my account can speak for itself. For Honor does have a good concept however, and I really would like to see some minor changes to the combat to fix these issues. Maybe remove the icon that tells you where an attack is coming?

TL;DR There's a lot of issues with the combat that makes the game not very fun at some of the higher levels similar to Chivalry. This game has a lot of potential but right now I would recommend Mount and Blade: Warband

You don't need to play this game for long to realize that all of the gameplay just maks it seem like another COD clone that gets boring very fast. So let's just make this review short and say it's COD with more microtransactions.

PROS:

The game is very well balanced and has its customization system for your rats. You can upgrade all of your personal rats with a skill tree that was put into the game. But the DEVS take this even further by letting you change your rat's appearence. Overall this game has a very RPG like feel to it.

It also has a very advanced multiplayer system in which players are put in a 4v4 arena where only teamwork will prevail. In this mode there are power ups which will let you unleash chaos on your enemies. The game is also very well balanced with multiple maps and gamemodes for multiplayer inluding: Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, and much more. You can also create clans and play a gamemode called clan battle which puts two clans up in a Team Deathmatch game and the first team t0 50 points wins.

The thing that keeps you hooked to the game though is the deep backstory involving the murder of king rat. Who could be behind this? None other than those pesky cats. You play as many different rats from the king rat's family wanting to get revenge for his death. It has a very well developed choice system which can end up altering the game into 43 different endings.

There are also very many different classes of rat which you can choose depending on your playstyle. You could be sneaky, ambitious, aggressive, safe, balanced, etc.. The point is the game shapes to how you want to play it.

CONS:

None, Game of the Decade
