State of Decay really excels at Zombie Apocalypse Survival immersion and scratches that; base building/supply management/survival, itch very well.

You are going to struggle all the time even once you feel like your doing well.
You're going to lose people over small stupid mistakes, Some you might shrug off, others are going to hurt a lot.
And you will sometimes find your favorite survivors in no-win situations.

and with character perma-death, it gives a real feeling of trying to keep your people alive.

So what are you going to do when you find your favorite character trapped in a closet with 3 hordes banging on the door? Do you just accept their fate and move on or do you Swing, Dodge and empty your clips in a blaze of glory. It's up to you.

overall great single player survival game.. runs smoothly, the survival aspect is challenging yet not overly punishing, and then there are the sharks that will have you screaming HOLY ♥♥♥♥! everytime you see a shadow out of the corner of your eye.

Less of an Ark Rip-Off and more of an ARK Stand-alone Reskin DLC hidden under parent company's name. shouldn't surprise anyone.

Abandoned

Hard to enjoy the game for more then 20min at a time without the motion blur causing a headache, no setting to turn it off.

That akward moment your hunter stands two feet away from an Advent out of cover, aims at its face, and misses...... with a shotgun...

9.5/10 Best Storm Trooper Battle Simulator.

Had a small 3 man colony in the jungle.... first year was touch and go as I learned the ropes, but we managed to pull together and got things up and running well enough...

Everyone was getting along, Food was abundant, the place was getting fixed up nicely yada yada yada...

So the colony decides to throw a party, A little booze here, A little smoke leaf there... Everyone is happy


I think everything is going well so I step away to grab a drink myself...

Come back and there is blood everywhere, Doctor is dead laying in cold storage, My cook is in sickbay bleeding to death and my guy is passed out on the floor drunk and high on smokeleaf!!!

10/10 That party got "Real" a little too fast!

The game looks great, feels immersive, and I like the overall concept, however... other than the graphics there isn't anything this game accels at. There is very little in the game that feels rewarding. If anything the game feels like one giant chore.

This is early access so I know things will be added/fixed later but the game already seems really behind the ball when it comes to other Early Access Survival games on the market.

I am giving it a thumbs down for the "regular survival player" with the suggestion that if a space survival game is what interests you, you may want to pick this game up on discounted weekends and put it on the shelf until its further along.

What I love about this game is the ability to jump in and go. Makes a great game to play when I want to have light hearted fun and dont have the time to play more "Heavy time investment" games like some of the survival games I play.

It's bit unblanaced on the matching system and I find the ship controls to be clunky compared to other space games, but overall fun.

Keep in mind it is Early Access so (per the dev's comments) the cons I mention are being worked on.

Probably has one of the best custom voxel ship designers out there to date.. You are really only limited by your own imagination. A must for the library of any ship designer and players who enjoy building games.

edit: sadly the 2.0 update nerfed many of the "fun" creative aspects of the game and ramped up the grind into overdrive.. No longer recomending this game for us creative builders.
