Just the Xen part could be its own game and it's absolutely gorgeous and glorious. This is more than just a reskin of HL1; it improves on the original with so much more to the story and gameplay. For example, have you ever wondered why the vortugants are hostile in HL1 but allies in HL2? Here's your answer. Play it.

Thumbs up, but only in good faith. I am on the fence between thumbs up and thumbs down.

It's pretty damn good but it gets boring after a couple matches because it's always the same stuff. It's really just Insurgency with better graphics and some more weapons. What would really make this shine is a story-based, single-player campaign involving stealth and action alike. Stories make everything better.

I think the soapiness of the cars is ridiculous and ought to be more controllable, but that's really the only complaint I have considering this is the only dedicated Initial D simulator in the market. I'm 50/50 on whether this deserves a recommendation, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt in terms of possibly being updated to being actually somewhat controllable so that the car drifts only when I want it to

As someone who grew up sailing, I can confidently tell you that this is spot on as a simulator. I think the dev did a fantastic job at everything in this game, however there is still so much potential left in it.
I am currently attending a Maritime academy, where I'm learning the works of the bigger vessels. After going through childhood nostalgia trips of being on my dad's Jeanneau in the South Pacific, I began to browse the options for other boats in the game—only sailboats. Then I got this idea: the interface for the cockpit of a sailboat in this game could be easily applied to the bridge of a large ship. In the same fashion that the player adjusts the sails on a sailboat, they could adjust the course for the autopilot to steer (or steer the helm manually), engine speed, ballast, etc, which then gets around to port operations and perhaps even interaction with tugboats, and so much more (implementation of RADAR/ARPA would be especially cool).
This game could become a full-on maritime simulator, and given the sophisticated realism, could even be used for education in maritime schools such as mine.
I commend the developer for the creation of this beautifully accurate simulator and also implore that they expand on this game to include ships with bridge sim and ports. It would then be the perfect game that I would gladly pay more for.

What a satisfying rush the gameplay provides. I've always loved this game, played it since my childhood via a DVD copy on a borrowed computer several years ago. Sadly, I can't play it anymore since my cheap windows pooped out and I've gotten a mac (for reasons, don't judge me). All I ask of the developers of this precious nugget is that they make it compatible for mac OS. God bless them if they do.

I tried it back when I had a crappy Windows PC, and I sadly refunded it because my crappy Windows PC couldn't handle it. Now said crappy Windows PC is dead and gone and I have a Mac that runs games surprisingly much, much better.

I'm 90% sure that this mac could handle Squad, no problemo, but sadly Squad isn't compatible on Mac. :(

I'm leaving a thumbs up because I've seen enough to know that the devs are doing a great job and it seems to be the making of a fantastic game, I only wish I could play it. So I ask the devs to please consider making this available to Macfags like me.

1. Turn off the default music.

2. Leave this on in the background: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv3k0_ULfE0

3. Reach levels you've never reached before.

This game is a fantastic yet simple representation of life. You don't want to be left behind, so you're chasing after the horizon. And the longer you go for...the more obstacles you overcome, the more precious that journey becomes. And when the going gets tough and you feel daunted, you may be a coward and give up, or you'll buckle up and say with haste, "ohh no you don't, not here, not now....I'M NOT GOING DOWN NOW."

But what are you chasing after? What's beyond that horizon that you're fighting so hard for? Many don't really know— many are just fighting to stay alive. So are you living? Well, are you? Then reach for that horizon and show that you're still alive.
