Dying Light was one of my favorite games to play this year.

The brutal savage combat, the gore and the parkour system are just extremely remarkable. It feels like a game that was designed and curated by a team with a distinct vision and boy does it feel like it. Slicing a zombie or a bad guy in half is extremely satisfying. It's hard to really explain. I really enjoyed climbing up the skill trees expanding quite a bit of the gameplay. Extremely enjoyable.

I personally enjoyed the story but I've not played a lot of zombie games myself (really just a small handful) but others have said it's rather clichéd. It's up to you to decide if that's a major factor. However on the flipside the side quests are impeccable. They have their own small stories that develop with interesting characters with their own little quirks. I actually enjoyed meeting a lot of the characters and the side quests that weren't always the exact same because of some added magic (Rupert's quests are the best).

The DLC is a harder sell. The free updates they've done are fantastic but the paid stuff is really weak. The Bozak Horde I completed solo to get all the arrows bar the explosive ones. I don't know if I will put in the extra effort to bother with the explosive arrows, frankly. It's just a timed mode with a 3 life limit. It's really not that fun. Supposedly designed for co-op but I didn't want to subject friends to it. The other DLC is just a few skins and I think a few weapons? The skins are okay... nothing great. The weapons aren't that interesting. That being said the last DLC (that's a part of the season pass) is looking to be utterly fantastic. A whole new map. A dune buggy. I'm looking forward to it and it will justify the purchase of the season pass for me (I got the game at 50% off).

On the negative aspects I found that co-op was kind of annoyingly done. The constant confirmation for stuff from the other player (especially them being right there) was rather annoying. Especially just for picking up quests. The dialog in the loading screen is cut off in multiplayer too. I had an achievement bug that I don't think is fixed just yet but I'm not in the second area yet. Which is annoying. The game is also incredibly difficult in single player which didn't deter me too much but can definitely get frustrating for some.

Overall a great experience IMO. Well worth it.

Good night and good luck.
