So far I have only played through one single player campaign, the depth of strategy is mind stretching.
I played a basic global conquest style which played out over a few days of game play. I have realised there is a huge, more in depth range of strategies. Befriend other civilisations, co-habit, share resources, spying, religious linkage, trading, bribing, etc, etc. The possibilities are near endless in how you play. And now with the extras pack, there's even more to explore.

I have yet had a chance to play multi-player, although I hope to very soon. With a human mind as an opponent the range of tactics expands and changes again. If you like a basic "tank up" and attack approach, that can work fine but for someone who enjoys the finer details of negotiations, there is a huge range of options to try and endlessly balance.

Overall, a very in-depth game with long, long, playability and always something different for returning players.

Agree 100%, this is a fantastic game that i keep going back to, it sucks me in for days at a time. Only issues are the AI are very agressive and often attack for no reason, and Multiplayer can be very slow. Some of the mods are fantastic but dont work for multiplayer for some daft reason :(
